Design Kit The Field Guide to Human-Centered Design A step-by-step guide that will get you solving problems like a designer. By IDEO.org About this Resource At IDEO.org, part of our mission is to spread human-centered design to social sector practitioners around the world. The Field Guide to Human-Centered Design reveals our process with the key mindsets that underpin how and why we think about design for the social sector, 57 clear-to-use design methods for new and experienced practitioners, and from-the-field case studies of human-centered design in action. Blast Theory Developing from works such as Uncle Roy All Around You, Rider Spoke invites the audience to cycle through the streets of the city, equipped with a handheld computer. You search for a hiding place and record a short message there. And then you search for the hiding places of others. The piece continues our fascination with how games and new communication technologies are creating new hybrid social spaces in which the private and the public are intertwined. It poses further questions about where theatre may be sited and what form it may take. It invites the public to be co-authors of the piece and a visible manifestation of it as they cycle through the city.

BBC Academy - Production - Transmedia storytelling 101 Telling your story across multiple platforms has never been more possible. BBC CoP attended this workshop session from BBC Academy's Fusion: Future Fiction day, where Hazel Grian and Dr Tom Abba take us through what transmedia means and how you can use it to play out your story to potentially millions of people worldwide. Transmedia - what does it mean?- You're not just thinking about one platform, you're considering how your audience can have various points of contact with your characters. - Commercially it gives you the ability to play with how people access your brand - how your audience can engage with it at different point in their lives.

Dummies Guide to Writing a Transmedia Production Bible OK not really a Dummies guide as there are some complex elements in here, but one has to use whatever memes are in vogue A few weeks ago I was commissioned by Screen Australia to write a very basic structure & guide for producers relatively new to multi platform content to structure & document their propositions, after they have developed the ‘audience centric’ concepts. This has just been published on the Screen Australia site as a digital resource for those needing to document projects for transmedia productions. Background? I had already been using a range of structures in my 17 years as cross media producer (BBC, MUVEDesign, GaryHayes.TV etc:) and lecturer (recently Multi Platform course lead at LAMP, Australian Film TV and Radio School, Metro Screen & many international workshops). The writing guide is free to download from the Screen Australia site, link below the introduction.

hero's journey "A Practical Guide to Joseph Cambell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces" by Christopher Vogler © 1985 “There are only two or three human stories, and they go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before.” In the long run, one of the most influential books of the 20th century may turn out to be Joseph Campbell’s THE HERO WITH A THOUSAND FACES. The book and the ideas in it are having a major impact on writing and story-telling, but above all on movie-making. Filmmakers like John Boorman, George Miller, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Francis Coppola owe their successes in part to the ageless patterns that Joseph Campbell identifies in the book.

The Walking Dead: a tentacular transmedia success… Even if the figure of the zombie appeared only relatively recently in popular western culture (1), it has enjoyed almost continuous success since the 60s and the release of Night Of The Living Dead by Romero. A success that the series The Walking Dead is definitely being driven by, inspired by the series of comic books of the same name created by Robert Kirkman in 2003. With the help of the film director Frank Darabont, he also contributed towards its adaptation for the American channel AMC, which has been showing the series since September 2010
