Animated Content Tabs with CSS3
In this tutorial we are going to implement some simple CSS3 content tabs using radio buttons together with the :checked pseudo-class and sibling combinators. View demo Download source Content tabs are a very common and familiar element in web design, and often their turn out to be pretty useful. So, in this tutorial we are going to implement some simple CSS3 content tabs using radio buttons together with the :checked pseudo-class and sibling combinators. Note that the CSS3 properties will only work in browsers that support them. The Markup We will be using input elements to connect to the division with the class content. Every input element has a value, and we can always make an input selected by default by adding the checked attribute. The CSS The first thing we need to do is to define some dimension and hide the inputs by setting their opacity to 0: The inputs will be covering the labels. Next, we will make the labels look like tabs by defining some neat style for them.

Pirate Bay Disarms BT Blockade Within Minutes Today, BT became the last major UK Internet provider to block subscriber access to The Pirate Bay. The ISP has gone further than other providers since it also restricts access to the new IP-addresses added by the deviant BitTorrent site in recent weeks. Nevertheless, even these additional efforts were quickly neutralized. Immediately after the block kicked in Pirate Bay added a set of new IP addresses to allow BT subscribers access again - for now at least. Following in the footsteps of Virgin Media, Everything Everywhere, Sky Broadband, TalkTalk, BE and O2, UK ISP BT has now blocked access to The Pirate Bay. In addition to blocking domain names such as thepiratebay.se and thepiratebay.org, BT went further than expected. BT subscribers who try to access Pirate Bay through the addresses above get an “Error – site blocked” message. However, The Pirate Bay is not giving up so easily. A Pirate Bay insider told TorrentFreak that they can continue adding new addresses for years to come.

Samsung Galaxy S III is hot: bursts into flames and melts through its own casing It doesn't look good. This Galaxy S III apparently malfunctioned while in an in-car holster, causing some substantial melting and burn marks across the lower half of the device. The global HSPA+ iteration of Samsung's new flagship apparently sparked into white flames, followed by a bang. While it's certainly not the first smartphone to implode in transit, the damage -- along the base but separate to the charging port -- looks pretty substantial and although the screen still apparently worked, reception was dead. The phone has been whisked off to a repair center through phone retailer Carphone Warehouse for the full autopsy. User dillo2k10 was left unscathed, but it's apparently left some nasty molten plastic remains on the inside of his car. Update: Sammy updated its Samsung Tomorrow blog with a quick statement, reading: "Samsung is aware of this issue and will begin investigating as soon as we receive the specific product in question. Everything That Apple Announced at WWDC Today at the WWDC event Apple released a slew of announcements, covering a wide range of products. This post is a compendium of what they released, and promised to release today. For convenience, the order of this post mirrors the order of Apple’s event. The event was packed, as always, filling the 6,230-person capacity room. It was a classic Apple event. Apple reported that over 1,000 of its engineers are at the event. App Store There are now 400 million user accounts, each with a credit card attached. That has led Apple to pay out over $5,000,000,000 to developers. Apple CEO Tim Cook made the following comment about the company’s work: “What we do together is much more important than any set of numbers could reflect. Notebooks Apple announced a number of changes to its notebook line, with its own Phil Schiller taking to the stage to explain the updates. Here is the pricing scheme for the units: Those prices are $100 less than before. Here’s the pricing data:

Ex-Googlers Launch MightyText, An iMessage For Android Users During their lengthy careers at Google in both senior technical and product management roles, Maneesh Arora and Amit Sangani were able to geek out on products like AdSense, AdWords, and the now-defunct Google Health. Arora tells us that, while his time at Google was defined by smart people and ambitious ideas like these, in development there was often a tendency to “over engineer” without thinking about “the average user.” He said that, while Google employees always had Gchat open and used Google Voice (or Wave while it was still alive), none of these products were able to effectively address the true value prop of communication tools for a mainstream audience: Syncing. Arora says simply, “To me, it makes no sense that I have to have my phone in front of me to communicate … If I leave it in another room, or in the car, or at home, I essentially have to retrieve it to see who’s calling or to receive incoming texts.” For more, find MightyText at home here.

Burke, Rahm and pot Ald. Ed Burke is not too keen on the mayor's proposal to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana, partly because because he is "very concerned with anything that gives kids the idea that this is not a bad thing to do." But Mayor Emanuel and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle have by far the better of the argument. Treating simple pot possession as a crime is a pointless endeavor and a terrible waste of resources. As the Sun-Times reported yesterday, Chicago cops made more than 18,000 arrests last year for possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana. Those who are kept in jail, notes Preckwinkle, cost the taxpayers $165 a day to house and feed. As for the supposedly bad message this change would send to kids, Burke might be surprised to find that in the Netherlands, where pot use is effectively legal, teen use is about half what it is in this country.

Deputy's arrest of Dallas biker under review DALLAS — As far as traffic stops go, biker Chris Moore says the reason a Dallas County deputy sheriff pulled him over was nowhere near routine. It wasn't for speeding. Moore said Deputy James Westbrook wanted his helmet camera. "[I was pulled over for] other people's activities," Moore said. "Primarily, I felt like, because I had the camera." The video from Moore's helmet camera seems to support the claims in this exchange recorded on Memorial Day weekend: MOORE: "Was I doing something wrong? WESTBROOK: "The whole group of you guys." MOORE: "No. WESTBROOK: "The reason you're being pulled over is because I'm gonna take your camera, and we're gonna use it as evidence of... in the crimes that have been committed by other bikers." MOORE: "I have not committed any crimes and you cannot take my personal property from me, sir." WESTBROOK: "That's fine. WESTBROOK: "You're under arrest for your license plate being obstructed. MOORE: "Are you kidding me, dude?" "Of course it's over a hundred bikers.
