How to tell in 15 minutes whether someone likes you - by Bridget Webber Bridget Webber's image for: "Body Language that Shows when someone of the Opposite Sex Fancies you" Caption: Location: Image by: Wouldn't it be great to be able to tell within fifteen minutes whether someone likes you or not? The Eyebrow Raise The eyebrow raise is generally reserved for members of the opposite sex who like what they see, and it happens straight away. The Smile Although smiling can be faked, a genuine smile can easily be separated from a false one. A smile that is more of a grimace, or is delivered with lips firmly shut tight and downward turning corners of the lips, is a concerted effort rather than an indication that someone likes you. The Lean. If you are sat with a person who likes you, he or she is likely to lean in toward you as you converse. If you are standing, a person will stand close to you if he or she likes you, and give you full attention. Feet. Eye Contact Touching. When you like someone, you are drawn to touch him or her, even when you try not to! Mirroring.

Flame Wars From Encyclopedia Dramatica Since there’s no way (yet) to physically hurt someone over the Internets, people are forced to take out their hostilities on one another via flame wars. During these violent confrontations, people resort to all sorts of underhanded tactics, including troll-like behaviors. The use of private messages, excessive swearing, remarks regarding an opponent’s appearance or sexual preference, image macros, etc. are all common practice. Individuals who regularly participate in or attempt to spark flame wars purely for the sake of amusement are often called flamers. History of Flame Wars The first true flame warrior was the Roman statesman Cicero, who wrote various insulting letters to other Romans in the provinces. Marce! To this, Marc Antony replied: Cicero! Marc Antony, clearly, had been pwnt. Flame wars have not progressed much over the course of the past two millennia. Flame wars today The Flamer's Bible (as composed by Joe Talmadge; also see B1FF). ! !

Dandy Sporty Parisian dandies of the 1830s: a tight corset helped one achieve his silhouette. The man on the left wears a frock, the man on the right wears a morning dress Though previous manifestations of the petit-maître (French for small master) and the Muscadin have been noted by John C. Prevost,[4] the modern practice of dandyism first appeared in the revolutionary 1790s, both in London and in Paris. The dandy cultivated skeptical reserve, yet to such extremes that the novelist George Meredith, himself no dandy, once defined "cynicism" as "intellectual dandyism"; nevertheless, the Scarlet Pimpernel is one of the great dandies of literature. Some took a more benign view; Thomas Carlyle in his book Sartor Resartus, wrote that a dandy was no more than "a clothes-wearing man". Etymology[edit] Beau Brummell and early British dandyism[edit] In 1836 Thomas Carlyle wrote: A Dandy is a clothes-wearing Man, a Man whose trade, office and existence consists in the wearing of Clothes. Sprezzatura The word has entered the English language; the Oxford English Dictionary defines it as "studied carelessness".[4] History[edit] Castiglione wrote The Book of the Courtier as a portrayal of an idealized courtier—one who could successfully keep the support of his ruler. The ideal courtier was supposed to be skilled in arms and in athletic events but be equally skilled in music and dancing. I have found quite a universal rule which in this matter seems to me valid above all other, and in all human affairs whether in word or deed: and that is to avoid affectation in every way possible as though it were some rough and dangerous reef; and (to pronounce a new word perhaps) to practice in all things a certain sprezzatura [nonchalance], so as to conceal all art and make whatever is done or said appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it. Thus, sprezzatura was essential to becoming the ideal courtier. Positive and negative attributes[edit] Examples[edit] See also[edit]

How to Build a Murphy Bed Use a table saw to rip 3/4x96" poplar boards to 1-1/4" finished width. You’ll need four lengths for the vertical face frame pieces and two additional lengths that will be cut into cross pieces. Reset the saw blade to 1/2" depth and cut a 1/2" deep by 3/4" wide rabbet on one back edge along the length of each piece. The plywood sides and shelves will later be glued and nailed into these rabbets. Use a compound miter saw to cut the vertical pieces to 95" finished length. Cut two 1-1/4" lengths into 10 horizontal cross pieces, each 15-1/2". Use a circular saw to rough-cut six plywood boards to 3/4x11-1/2". Reset your table saw blade depth to 1" and finish-cut the plywood boards to 10" width. Use your compound miter saw or circular saw to cut four of these boards to 95" finished length for the vertical sides. Cut the two other 10" wide boards into 16-1/2" pieces for the top, bottom and shelves. Measure and mark the placement of the cross pieces, allowing an equal distance between each.

Red Army Faction The Red Army Faction existed from 1970 to 1998, committing numerous operations, especially in late 1977, which led to a national crisis that became known as "German Autumn". It was held responsible for thirty-four deaths, including many secondary targets, such as chauffeurs and bodyguards, and many injuries in its almost thirty years of activity. Although better-known, the RAF conducted fewer attacks than the Revolutionary Cells (German: Revolutionäre Zellen, RZ), which is held responsible for 296 bomb attacks, arson and other attacks between 1973 and 1995.[2] Although Meinhof was not considered to be a leader of the RAF at any time, her involvement in Baader's escape from jail in 1970 and her well-known status as a German journalist led to her name becoming attached to it.[3] There were three successive incarnations of the organization, Background[edit] The origins of the group can be traced back to the student protest movement in West Germany. They'll kill us all.

SARCASM IN RELATIONSHIPS Sarcasm – a mocking or ironic remark (American Heritage Dictionary) Irony – the use of words to convey the opposite of their literal meaning (American Heritage Dictionary) Sarcasm is a large component of social interaction and conversation. Sarcasm is an indirect form of speech intentionally used to produce a particular dramatic effect on the listener (McDonald, 1999, p. 486). Many people relate sarcasm to irony, but there is a big difference between the two. The subject of sarcasm is complex because many factors are involved. Negative sarcasm, where positively worded utterances convey negative attitudes, is used frequently in everyday language. Sarcastic remarks, like this, are usually accompanied by exaggeration, and intensifiers may be used on the words that state the opposite of how one truly feels. Sarcasm has been found to be “morphologically simpler and more flexible to use than direct forms” (McDonald, 1999, 487). People have different views of sarcasm in relation to humor.
