While audio on the web no longer requires a plugin, the audio tag brings significant limitations for implementing sophisticated games and interactive applications. The Web Audio API is a high-level JavaScript API for processing and synthesizing audio in web applications. The goal of this API is to include capabilities found in modern game audio engines and some of the mixing, processing, and filtering tasks that are found in modern desktop audio production applications. What follows is a gentle introduction to using this powerful API. Getting started with the AudioContext An AudioContext is for managing and playing all sounds. A single instance of AudioContext can support multiple sound inputs and complex audio graphs, so we will only need one of these for each audio application we create. The following snippet creates an AudioContext: Loading sounds Playing sounds full source code Volume:

Prototypal Inheritance Douglas Crockford Five years ago I wrote Classical Inheritance in JavaScript (Chinese Italian Japanese). It showed that JavaScript is a class-free, prototypal language, and that it has sufficient expressive power to simulate a classical system. My programming style has evolved since then, as any good programmer's should. I have learned to fully embrace prototypalism, and have liberated myself from the confines of the classical model. My journey was circuitous because JavaScript itself is conflicted about its prototypal nature. new () produces a new object that inherits from .prototype This indirection was intended to make the language seem more familiar to classically trained programmers, but failed to do that, as we can see from the very low opinion Java programmers have of JavaScript. Fortunately, it is easy to create an operator that implements true prototypal inheritance. function object(o) { function F() {} F.prototype = o; return new F(); } if (typeof Object.create !

Why No Padlock? - Why is my SSL web page insecure? Find the culprit! Cascading Style Sheets CSS is designed primarily to enable the separation of document content from document presentation, including elements such as the layout, colors, and fonts.[1] This separation can improve content accessibility, provide more flexibility and control in the specification of presentation characteristics, enable multiple pages to share formatting, and reduce complexity and repetition in the structural content (such as by allowing for tableless web design). CSS can also allow the same markup page to be presented in different styles for different rendering methods, such as on-screen, in print, by voice (when read out by a speech-based browser or screen reader) and on Braille-based, tactile devices. It can also be used to allow the web page to display differently depending on the screen size or device on which it is being viewed. CSS specifies a priority scheme to determine which style rules apply if more than one rule matches against a particular element. Syntax[edit] Selector[edit] Use[edit]

You can use the API to integrate your app or website with Google+. This enables users to connect with each other for maximum engagement using Google+ features from within your application. View the Google+ API reference overview with resources People, Activities, and Comments. Note: The Google+ API currently provides read-only access to public data. All API calls require either an OAuth 2.0 token or an API key. Quota Your application is limited to the number of API calls it can make by a usage courtesy quota. Google+ API (Sign-in) - For methods that are allowed by the scope (people.get, and people.list). Each group has its own limit, which applies to the total of all API calls in that group. Authorization Many API calls require that the user of your application grant permission to access their data. API Calls GET Common Parameters Data Formats Example

Javascript Arrays – passing by reference or by value? – Oren Farhi – Thoughts On Javascript and Development I stumbled across a great article about javascript arrays – Mastering Javascript Arrays. One fact that i didn’t realize until reading this article is that if you pass an array to a function – it is passed by reference by default. Actually, any non primitive object is passed by reference. Array By Reference Basically it means that if you make any changes to the array inside the function, these changes are saved in the original array so you don’t have to “return myArray” at the end of this function (or at any other return statement inside this function) – that’s what’s so great about javascript – being dynamic enough and consolidate various tricks from other low-level languages. var a= [3, 'my new post', {345}] function renderData(a) { a.push(4); } renderData(a); alert(a); // will output the new a - [3, 'my new post', {345}, 4] Array By Value
