Pepperoni Pizza Pull-Apart Bread I can't even being to tell you how cute we looked at our little coffee table yesterday with this beauty between us. We sat on the floor Indian-style across from each other, and one by one, without any utensils whatsoever, consumed the mighty pizza bread together (while catching up on the latest The Daily Show funnies). We really liked it - the seasoned butter really adds an extra layer of richness to each bite. I thought it was a little funny yesterday when Ryan and I were making dinner. "So... are you just getting bored?" This cracked me up. One-Pot Mac and Cheese Well, I have to say, I LOVE this version of Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese! Why? You put the noodles in dry, uncooked!!! Photo Credit: 1bg.blogspot.com Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese Ingredients: Cooking oil spray 2 cups skim milk 1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk 1 egg 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 1/2 cups pre-shredded sharp cheddar cheese 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni Directions: Spray the pot of the slow cooker or if using a liner bag, spray the bag well. Turn slow cooker on low and cook 3-4 hours, or until the custard is set and the macaroni is tender. Jans tips: between the 3-4 hour mark on low, the edges start to get that crispy, cheesy edge. The original recipe called for 1/4 tsp. salt , but I increased it for my own taste preferences. Update: May 16, 2012: I've had a few people try this and report back some mixed reviews on the recipe. Update: July 12, 2012: I don't know why it never occurred to me before to remind y'all to cook it on low!

Crash Hot Potatoes | The Pioneer Woman Cooks Man, do I love Australia. First, my oldest daughter was conceived there on our honeymoon…and while we’re on the subject, have I ever shared with you that we almost named her “Sydney” as a nod to her point of origin? In the end, I chickened out, though—I thought that might be a little corny, and truth be told, I think she was actually conceived in Brisbane. But I’ll stop there. Anyway, I just love Australia. They’re so simple, it’s terrifying. For now, though, let’s take a chill pill and make Crash Hot Potatoes! The Cast of Characters: New Potatoes (or other small, round potato), Olive Oil, Kosher Salt, Black Pepper, and whatever herb you like. Begin by bringing a pot of salted water to a boil. Add in as many potatoes as you wish to make, and cook them until they’re fork-tender. Oh! Next, generously drizzle olive oil on a sheet pan. This will mean the difference between the potatoes sticking and not sticking, so don’t be shy here. …Giving them plenty of room to spread out. Or something.
50 Different Foods You Can Put in a Jar {Saturday Inspiration & Ideas} A couple weeks ago I posted 50 different things to do with mason jars…though all the ideas were creative and fun, none of them had anything to do with food. I thought the whole concept of food in a jar deserved a post all of it’s own. So this weeks Saturday Inspiration post is dedicated to all the glorious foods … You can put in a jar: desserts in a jar, bread in a jar, appetizers in a jar, meals in a jar, drinks in a jar… I think you can pretty much put anything in jar and it instantly becomes a million times cuter! Now I want to save even more jars! The Sunday Showcase starts tonight … I can’t wait to see what you have been working on this week!
Instant Mug o' Mac & Cheese in the Microwave My daughter likes her organic boxed mac and cheese just as well much as the homemade stuff I make in the oven. The other day I went to make her our quick box version for lunch and we were out! I knew it was finally time to try something I’d always thought of but never attempted: making mac and cheese in the microwave. Since she only needed a small portion I knew a mug o’ mac and cheese would be just the right amount for her. I was thrilled when it worked out with my regular microwave — it was so easy! Instant Mug o’ Mac & Cheese in the Microwave 1/3 cup pasta 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup 1% milk 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese Combine the pasta and water in a large mug or bowl. Remove it from the microwave and stir in the milk and cheese. 10 Tasty Mug Cakes That You Can Make in Just MinutesRainbow Cake in a Jar10 Foods You Should Never Feed Your Baby2 Minute Salted Caramel Mug Cake20 Salads Hearty Enough for Tonights Dinner
Freezer Cooking | Ring Around the Rosies First of all, I promise this isn’t turning into a food blog But, I asked on facebook what you all would like me to post next, and sharing my first attempt at freezer cooking won the vote! If you want more freezer meal ideas, follow me on facebook now! So, yesterday I achieved my first ever attempt at “freezer cooking”. I wish I would’ve done it a lot sooner, because I found that in “not taken the time” I was actually wasting a lot of time! I was pretty happy with my results! And my favorite thing, I can control all of the ingredients to make them as healthy as I want. So here is what I did…1) I made a list of my recipes. Yesterday, I made: 3)To start, I gathered all of the ingredients I needed. 4) Then, I chopped all of the veges first. Pull the bags out of the freezer the night before you want to use them so they’re thawed when they go in the crock pot! Each recipe gave me TWO gallon size bags. Nutella: The World Needs You There are times when I feel like an ostrich. It’s like I have my head buried so deeply in all the minutia of daily life that when I stick my head out into the world I’m shocked (and often appalled) and what’s going on. I’ll be honest. When I do stick my head out mostly I just want to curl back into my little life with a blankie and a warm cup of tea. With all the uncertainy around us, it is nice to have some things that remain simple and pure, regardless if you’re 7 or 37. And that’s Nutella. No matter what, that thick layer of Nutella that I slather onto a piece of bread always tastes the same and always brings back that pleasant feeling of chocolate and sugar and hazelnuts and fresh bread. And for all those that mock Nutella’s claims of being a healthy snack I’m sending a big dose of “shush” your way. Just shush. Nutella makes people happy. I said shush. Ciao! World Nutella Day was started in 2007 by Sara of Ms.

Taco Bake One food item I always seem to have in my pantry or in my fridge are flour tortillas. They are good for so many things. Tortillas can be made into so many different types of snacks for kids (and grownups). You can cut them up and fry them or bake them. You can make cinnamon chips, quesadillas, tortilla pizzas....The possibilities are endless...and easy on the wallet too. Ingredients: 1 pound ground beef 1 packet taco seasoning * water as called for on back of seasoning packet 3 large flour tortillas (8-inch size) 1/2 cup Salsa Con Queso 1 1/2-2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend Directions: Brown and crumble ground beef. Add in taco seasoning and water (following directions on back of seasoning packet). Once the taco meat is ready, turn off heat and add in 1/2 cup salsa con queso. I like a mild salsa con queso. Give it a good stir, until thoroughly combined. It don't look all that pretty, but don't worry, we're gonna dress her up a bit. Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Then slice and serve.
Tartelette I know, it seems very strange to put "baked" and "doughnuts" in the same sentence and then expect you to believe me when I say they were good...but they were! But why would I turn a completely good fried piece of Americana into a baked good? Well, for once I was curious to try another recipe after my first success last year. I also have the same reason as last year for trying baked doughnuts yet again. Looking online you will find dozens of recipes for baked doughnuts but how would you know if they are any good? Baked Doughnuts, adapted from this recipe: 1 1/3 cups warm milk, 95 to 105 degrees (divided)1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)2 tablespoons butter2/3 cup sugar2 eggs5 cups all-purpose flourA pinch or two of nutmeg, freshly grated1 teaspoon salt1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted1 1/2 cups sugar1 tablespoon cinnamon Place 1/3 cup of the warm milk in the bowl of an electric mixer.
Zucchini fries and seasoned sour cream Have you guys listened to the song Up With the Birds by Coldplay? I am a bit of a CP fanatic. Dan rolls his eyes at me any time I mention Coldplay. This song, though, it is really great. On my sad days, it uplifts me. Elijah is spending the night with his auntie tonight, so Dan and I have had special time with our sweet Sammy. The boys are back from their shower. First, prepare the zucchini fries. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. In a small bowl, combine: 1/2 cup skim milk 1 large egg Whisk until combined. In another small bowl, combine: 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese Mix well. Cut 2 large zucchinis into 3-inch by 1/2-inch strips. Coat the zucchini strips with the milk-egg mixture, followed by the breadcrumb-cheese mixture. Place onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown. Seasoned sour cream! In a medium bowl, combine: 1 cup mayonnaise 1 cup sour cream Stir until smooth. Add: 1/2 teaspoon paprika
