Sinlessly Delicious Recipes

Sinlessly Delicious Recipes
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. My surgery went very well, and I’m up and about and feeling more normal every day. Your emails and messages of support have meant so much to me and are surely speeding up my recovery. Resting and recuperating gave me an unexpected opportunity to sample other people’s cooking. For the first week post-surgery, friends brought food daily, and it was a great help and comfort not to have to worry about feeding my family. The meals were all vegan, nutritious, and delicious, and I acquired a couple of new recipes that I’ll be making for myself (and sharing with you) soon.

Your Vegan Mom You guys, the broccoli we talked about? It's not ready yet. It cooks a long time.* 44 Vegan Lunch Ideas! - My Vegan Journal I posted a picture of my delicious vegan sandwich on the My Vegan Journal Facebook Page, and MVJ “fans” were kind enough to share what they were eating for lunch too! Although we couldn’t all sit around at a giant table & enjoy the feast (how awesome would THAT be?!), it was really nice to see what a HUGE variety of vegan lunches everyone was enjoying around the world!

My Favorite Lasagna Last night I had the pleasure of having dinner with a group of people taking a Civil Rights Tour through the South. The menu for the night was barbecued pork sandwiches and pork-and-beans, the idea being to give them a little taste of local cuisine (which revolves around pork, apparently). The only problem: Several of the 30 participants were vegetarian. When the planners of the dinner realized this, a call went out for vegan dishes, and I was happy to oblige with my potluck standard, Easy Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna. I’ve been making this recipe for years, and I can’t bring myself to change it. I keep thinking I should do something to fancy it up, but it’s my daughter’s all-time favorite food, so I never want to risk ruining a batch.

Make-Ahead Steel Cut Oatmeal & 4 New Oatmeal Recipes You wouldn’t know it from the plethora of steel-cut oatmeal recipes I have on the blog (one), but steel-cut oats are actually my favourite way to enjoy oatmeal. The only problem is I’m usually too hungry to wait 30 minutes to eat breakfast. Hence, my obsession with quick breakfasts like Vegan overnight oats, Green Monsters, and rolled oatmeal. Oats in review: Instant Oats have been cooked, dried and rolled and are the most processed way to eat oats. Instant oats are very thin and need only hot liquid to soften. We feel very strongly that food is the foundation for all the body’s needs, and our kids deserve to eat real, whole, natural foods. Raspberry Pie I tend to make all of my fruit pies the exact same way… and I am always stuffing my face very happy with the results. This raspberry pie is no exception. Once I cut the first slice, it barely lasted 30 minutes. Mmmm pie. Raspberry Pie – Vegan and Gluten Free Ingredients Kake's Vegan Cookery About This Site When I started this site up, in April 1997, I wrote some stuff about why I was doing it. You can still read the original page at the Wayback Machine. Things have changed since then; these days I don't need to print my recipes out, since I have a laptop and a kitchen table.

Calamondin (or Lemon) Pie with Oatmeal Cookie Crust I started making this pie years ago, while visiting my parents for the winter holidays. In November, their citrus trees start producing more fruit than my parents can use, so by December they’re giving fruit away by the bagful. And since my father has a big sweet-tooth (which E. and I have inherited), he’s always looking for ways to transform those lemons, oranges, and other citrus into sugary desserts. One year, he wanted a lemon pie, and my parents, being the gracious hosts that they are, suggested that I make it for him. I guess it doesn’t sound so gracious when I put it that way, but what they really wanted was a vegan pie that all of us could enjoy. So I found a recipe for lemon pie filling in the classic Farm Vegetarian Cookbook, and the rest is history.
