Sinlessly Delicious Recipes
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. My surgery went very well, and I’m up and about and feeling more normal every day. Your emails and messages of support have meant so much to me and are surely speeding up my recovery. Resting and recuperating gave me an unexpected opportunity to sample other people’s cooking. For the first week post-surgery, friends brought food daily, and it was a great help and comfort not to have to worry about feeding my family. The meals were all vegan, nutritious, and delicious, and I acquired a couple of new recipes that I’ll be making for myself (and sharing with you) soon.

Cultured Young Coconut Yogurt A few months ago I decided I wanted to make my own yogurt. Real, cultured yogurt. Of course making it traditionally with animal milk was out of the question, so into the world of milk alternatives I went. After all I was looking to reduce my soy intake and have a more varied diet.

Distressing Salad Dressings With Artificial Additives Some government agencies have decided that it is just fine to add several substances to processed edible products. Many of them are things that we wouldn't normally recognize as food. There are more than 1,400 different approved food additives listed in Codex Alimentarius, ("food book") of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN and the World Health Organization whose main purpose is "to protect the health of consumers". The list includes additives to color food, to stabilize color or retain color, as well as others to keep food from caking, or foaming or doing something else that it might really want to do in its natural state. Other additions may emulsify, liquefy or firm a product, or cause a mixture to gel or glaze.

vegan stuffed shells I swear, no one will know this is vegan. Ok, that was a big statement, let me start over. I’m really pretty sure that this one will win over your pickiest eaters. This isn’t fancy food here… we all loved jumbo shells in the 90′s and I’m bringing them back today with the best quotation marked “ricotta” that I’ve made yet. The trick is to combine cashew cream with tofu. Soft-Serve Frozen Yogurt You guys must think that all I eat these days is ice cream. Well, that’s not true, I still eat my green salad everyday and a few other things, but for some reason every recipe I create for the blog turns into an ice-cream. I hope you are enjoying the ice cream spiral I’m on. Today’s ice cream is soft-serve frozen yogurt, destined to cool you off. I remember when I discovered frozen yogurt. It was about 9 years ago- There was a shop in Plaka making delicious frozen yogurt!

Avocado Chimichurri Bruschetta My friend, Laurie, gave me this recipe from an old "Vegetarian Times." It is FANTASTIC! I took the completed product to a friends cocktail party and it was a hit! No one would have known it was vegan if I hadn't told them. I made it a couple of hours ahead. The lemon juice in the recipe kept the avocados from turning brown.
