In the photographer's first monograph, he explores his own adoption and upbringing. "I was trapped between my warm and happy memories of my early childhood growing up in Rwanda, and the horror I witnessed in my early teens in my homeland and in the DRC." Photojournalist Andrew McConnell used portraiture to raise awareness about displaced people living in cities around the world. Add this software to your post-processing workflow to get the best portraits possible. The editors of PDN are proud to announce our picks for this year's 30 new and emerging photographers to watch. How to Visualize Photography Lighting Setups in Blender Not too long ago I finally got around to picking up a decent manual flash for exploring lighting and speedlight techniques. I picked up a Yongnuo YN-560 Speedlight Flash for Canon and Nikon, and my friend Sean was kind enough to send me his old radio triggers to play with. I was mostly all set to start exploring the world of off-camera lighting… I say mostly because though I had a rough understanding of how I wanted to use the light, I was not well versed on what could be done with it. So I spent a bit of time on the Flickr Strobist Group, and read through all of the Lighting courses on the Strobist site. There is an absolute wealth of information on the site, and I cannot recommend it enough. Having a reference for how the contribution of different types of light will affect the final outcome is very handy for me.

Iceland: 12 Tips for Capturing Great Waterfall Images – Digital Mastery: The home of everything Ben Posted by admin inBlogon March 15, 2012 In June of this year, I will be leading a photographic workshop in one of my favorite places to shoot: Iceland. Focus on Nature (the organizers) asked me to write a blog post for them about the upcoming trip. Instead of just saying how great it’s going to be (how can it not be? It’s Iceland!), I decided to give a little sneak peak at what folks might learn there.

Review: Samyang/Rokinon 24mm f/3.5 Tilt-Shift Lens The mechanism could do with a much smoother movement setting with more friction. When getting used to the lens, take care not to force things. There are parts of the tilt/shift mechanism that could be damaged if you are unduly ham-fisted ;-) BALLED Pro - In Action - LED Foto-Lampe Goodies for food photographers The use oft he iPhone makes many happy food photographers: always and everywhere, where ever we are, we can make a quick snapshot of what is on our plate and at the same moment we can share it with the rest of the world. Now, in Instagram we create a big story on the frontpage and supported by special applications such as swype successful snapshots are refined even further. With the iPhone ready to hand at the table, that's all well and good. But it can not just compete against the professional food photographer with his system camera and his equipment. Differences must be exist, isn’t it? Do we want to reduce the difference maybe a bit more?

Add clarity to your images in Photoshop Step 1 Go to Filter>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask. Select Amount 20, Radius 50 and Threshold 0. Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8 Tilt-Shift Lens Review The first tilt/shift lens Canon produced, the Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8 Tilt-Shift Lens, is also Canon's highest optical performing tilt/shift lens. I don't like to be redundant in my reviews, but Canon's tilt/shift line shares many qualities. I repeat much of this information for those who happen to be starting their TS-E search with each particular TS-E lens. And of course, the information is tweaked for the nuances of each lens. So with that said ... What is a Tilt-Shift lens?

Early life[edit] FUJINON XF 56mm ƒ/1.2 Review — Fuji vs. Fuji If you’ve visited this site before, you might already know that this lens is part of my “Ultimate Prime Kit,” which consists of the 14mm ƒ/2.8, the 23mm ƒ/1.4, and the 56mm ƒ/1.2. These lenses all have excellent handling traits with one potential exception being the 14mm ƒ/2.8. Some people were finding the aperture ring a little loose on the 14mm.
