PlayStation 4 lead architect reveals secrets behind Sony's next console When Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 two months ago, many were impressed to see Mark Cerny fronting the presentation as lead system architect; the industry veteran first made his name by designing the classic Marble Madness at the age of 18, and has since been described as "the closest we have come to a modern-day da Vinci." Cerny hasn't spoken much about the PS4 since, but now a lengthy, in-depth interview with Gamasutra does a lot to explain the thinking behind the system's design. "We didn't want the hardware to be a puzzle that programmers would be needing to solve." Cerny traces the initial PS4 blueprint back to Thanksgiving 2007, when he read a book about the history of the x86 system architecture and decided it would be powerful enough for the PlayStation 3's successor. PS4 uses a "supercharged PC architecture" Cerny describes the PS4 design as a "supercharged PC architecture," and a big part of that is the 8GB of fast, unified GDDR5 memory that both the CPU and GPU can call upon.
Bloomin' Apps This page gathers all of the Bloomin' Apps projects in one place. Each image has clickable hotspots and includes suggestions for iPad, Android, Google and online tools and applications to support each of the levels of Bloom's Revised Taxonomy.I have created a page to allow you to share your favorite online tool, iOS, or Android app with others. Cogs of the Cognitive Processes I began to think about the triangular shape of Bloom's Taxonomy and realized I thought of it a bit differently.Since the cognitive processes are meant to be used when necessary, and any learner goes in and out of the each level as they acquire new content and turn it into knowledge, I created a different type of image that showcased my thoughts about Bloom's more meaningfully. Here is my visual which showcases the interlocking nature of the cognitive processes or, simply, the "Cogs of the Cognitive Processes". See the near miss that rattled pilots. NBC 6's Willard Shepard reports. (Published Wednesday, Jul 16, 2014) Helicopter pilot Paul Barth and his camera operator saw a brightly colored object in the South Florida sky with them just before sunrise. "I didn’t know what it was when I first saw it," Barth said. They saw the object while they were airborne to document the Wings for Life World Run charity race in May. “We were on a collision course," Barth said. Prosecutors Have Doubts in Police Shooting, But No Charges Down below were the athletes and support staff participating in the run to raise money for those with spinal cord injuries. “It came right at us and went right underneath us," Barth said. And while a computer-driven car may seem unsettling, the technology represents a potential leap forward in auto safety. More than 30,000 people are killed each year in crashes despite huge advances in auto safety. Computer driven cars could reduce traffic deaths by a very significant degree, said David Champion, head of auto testing at Consumer Reports, but only if all cars are computer-driven. "I think if all the cars were self-driving, it would be a benefit," he said. That's because humans are better at predicting the behavior of other humans than computers could ever be, he said. "When I'm approaching an intersection, I look to see of the other driver is looking at me," said Champion. Self-driving cars, like Google's, use sensors to watch cars, pedestrians and other obstacles. Sometimes these systems can cause confusion.
