1980's hair tutorial

1980's hair tutorial
Hey Glitter Girls, it’s Jessie from Sweet Thing bringing you a fun ’80s inspired hairstyle. As a child of the ’80s one of my favorite movies growing up was Flashdance. I longed for curly hair like Jennifer Beals. If only I had known that there was no perm necessary to get the very same look. 1. Before bed, wash your hair. A few things to note: The direction of the twist determine the direction of the curls. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

beach waves I'm one of those people who was cursed with stick straight thin hair that hates to curl. I used to do the traditional "braid your hair before bed" and rag curling tricks to get nice beachy waves, but they never ended up turning out right the next day. I didn't like the fact that the process took a whole night, and I had no way of knowing what my hair was going to look like when I pulled the braids/rags out. Do you know how nerve-wracking that is, especially if you have an event to go to (*cough* my brother's wedding)? Would the curls be too tight? would they end up in funny places? I developed my own way of doing nice randomly chunky waves. Here's how to get some nice messy random waves, without sleeping on a head of uncomfortableness. I absolutely LOVE the randomness of these curls. Have you seen this method done before? "How do you put your hair in the flat iron without burning your fingers?" Feel free to Pin!!

How-To: The Cascade/Waterfall Braid The waterfall braid also known as the cascade braid recently exploded as the new "trend braid" of the season. The waterfall effect looks cool and complex, but it's easier to style than you think. Give this beautiful braid a try when Beautylish takes you through the how-to! Section Off The waterfall braid works best on straight or loose waves. Braid As Usual Braid your strands regularly three times, beginning from the right strand. Drop the Strand This is where it gets tricky. Step and Repeat Repeat this process—French braid the left strand, drop the right strand, and pick up an adjacent new piece. Pin and Secure Once you've reached a comfortable point to stop your braid, secure it to your scalp with bobby pins. Fishtail It! Braid the remaining piece of hair left from your cascade into a fishtail braid. Accessorize Add a cute bow or flower to hide your bobby pins and give this look some extra hair flair.

Life With 4 Boys: 4 Pin-Up Girl Hair Tutorials for Medium to Short Hair I love "old" hair. No, not the hair that you find in the bottom of your shower drain that has been there for months, I mean hair right out of a pin-up girl calendar. Beautiful hairstyles with a vintage flair. I think these styles work especially well for fall when you won't mind the hair being down on your neck or across your forehead. Having short to medium length hair though, it is not always easy to find pin-up girl hairstyles that work. This hairstyle is adorable and looks pretty simple. 2. This is a little more advanced than the tutorial above, but I love the look and if I can pull it of with my hair being a little longer than hers, I think it will look fabulous! 3. I love the look of victory rolls and if I had known they were so easy to do, I would have tried them out a long time ago. 4. This one would be easier for someone with medium to short hair that is at least below the ears. Kathleen Bunn

hair volume how-to Posted September 26, 2011 | 10 Comments Have you ever wondered how to get more volume in your hair? Today we’re going to show you how to achieve that thicker, fuller look for your wedding day – and beyond – with a few of our favorite tutorials. I have always admired voluminous hair in magazines and photo shoots wishing that I, too, had lustrous, voluminous hair. Then I realized something: I can keep wishing for more volume or I can make it happen. Voluminous hair is the result of a few key essentials like a good diet (high protein can lead to healthier, thicker hair with less breakage), plenty of H20, proper blow-drying techniques (here’s a video to get you started), plenty of hairspray, and abundant amounts of teasing, product-applying, and styling. image via keiko lynn You may remember the next image from our braided hairstyles round-up a few months back. Although she has an unfair advantage (her hair is gorgeous to begin with), she styles it from this… …to this: It looks beautiful!

BRAIDY BUNCH photo: kristin ess + thebeautydepartment.com post designed by kristin ess This week my little sister came to stay with me. Since we LOVE braids around here, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to use her shiny brown hair to show you how to do this quick one. It’s similar to the waterfall braid, but much faster and less confusing. Start this like a regular braid, but drop the top piece through to the bottom and leave it there.Gently twist the 2 pieces you’re left with upward.Add a new 3rd piece in between + drop it through.Twist again and repeat. Remember there are only 2 main steps to this braid: twist + add a new piece. Tag Archive for &wedding hairstyles& photo/post/graphic design: Kristin Ess One of my all time favorite hairstyles for a wedding or for red carpet is the most super simple chic chignon (say that 3 times fast!). In this tutorial we show future brides and bridesmaids alike how to keep their hair out of the way while maintaining a timeless, classic look for any event. This is one of those updos that really allows you to focus on the dress, accessories and overall beauty instead of being a major focal point. Let’s get started! Start with all of your hair in a ponytail. A fuller bun + a tighter bun can both look great for different reasons. If you’re looking for accessories similar the one in the top image for your wedding, here are a few of my current favorites: And you can always use fresh flowers, silk flowers or an embellished appliqué from the fabric store.

shampoo free EmailEmail “No Poo” is a nickname for going shampoo free… Everyone has a different experience when ditching shampoo. Here is Amber’s story…. And you can read mine here! So I decided to stop using shampoo and jump on this tiny “no poo shampoo” train that was starting. Still. So this is when I decided to do a little experiment. Week One Okay, so this is bad. Why baking soda? The first week was horrible (I wore a lot of ponytails) but I kept telling myself eventually my scalp and hair would detox and recalibrate. Week Two Okay, getting a little better but yes, my hair still looks like crap. However, another problem had cropped up. to my 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and the itch was gone immediately. Week Three By the end of the third week I could see that it really was going to work. Week Four By the end of the fourth week something funny began to happen. Week Five By week five suddenly there was a huge change. Week Six So after six weeks my hair is looking better than it has in years.

beach hair guide The best stuff in life is free. Like sunshine, blue skies and THE OCEAN…if you have access to it, that is. Which I don’t. And I know it’s only January but I’m already Jonesing for spring. So, to scratch the itch, I decided to go with beach hair. Problem was I needed sea spray to get the really beachy look and texture. So with much hesitation and skepticism I took on the task of making my own, with stuff I already had around the house. BELIEVE me when I tell you, this is BY FAR the best sea spray I have ever used, EVER. RECIPE: 1 Cup WARM water 3 Tablespoons Sea Salt 1 Tablespoon Gel or Spray Gel 1/2 Tablespoon Conditioner (or leave-in) A couple spritzes of your favorite perfume DIRECTIONS: Mix Warm water and salt first and shake well.
