5 vintage style medicine cabinets from Kohler If you need a medicine cabinet for your bathroom remodel, you can stalk your local Re-Store and in just a short while, you are sure to find one. But, old skool cabinets can be quite small, only about 16″ wide and 20″ tall. When I renovated my bathrooms, I wanted more space, so I put in new 20″wide x 26″high medicine cabinets. This is absolutely my favorite of all the Kohler designs. . Homepage | Councill.com YaelMer&ShayAlkalay Post-Steampunk: Timeless Industrial Metal & Glass Tables Steampunk has become a stylized trend in many ways, making this kind of work is perfect for those of us who are fans of design that celebrates industrial machinery … but also that matches those elements with modern forms and contemporary function. Tim Byrne not only reuses old factory machines to build these unique works, but makes them work within the new objects as well – antique wheels turning to raise or lower surface heights in a stable, sturdy and physically engaging way. He lets the look of rough steel, cast iron, brushed aluminum and other half-raw (or semi-finished) materials speak for itself – with legs, frames, spokes and girders that are largely original – and adds only beautiful hardwoods, clean-cut sheets of glass and other accents as needed to transform them into desks or tables. The best of so many worlds are combined here: craftsmanship, material quality, adaptive reuse, clean and simple aesthetics and modular multi-functionality.

Shades of Light - Unique High Quality Lighting, Rugs and Accent Furniture Home || David Trubridge Furniture and Lighting Design SkLO : OBJECT SkLO : OBJECT is our core production line of functional, semi-functional and sculptural objects and accessories. While the focus of SkLO is Czech Glass, our OBJECT line goes beyond glass to highlight our metal fabrication abilities and more. The heart of our work is Czech glass, drawing on hundreds of years of tradition and experience. Our designs strive to highlight what is inimitable and unique about Czech glass: scale (the ability to blow large forms with great precision), clarity of glass, perfect depth of color, and the Czech abilities at cutting and polishing. Working directly with the glassmasters in their studios in the Czech Republic, SkLO brings a modern sensibility to the Czech glass tradition. Our design philosophy is rooted in materiality and process.

Playing the Building | An Installation by David Byrne Creative Time presents Playing the Building, a 9,000-square-foot, interactive, site-specific installation by renowned artist David Byrne. The artist transforms the interior of the landmark Battery Maritime Building in Lower Manhattan into a massive sound sculpture that all visitors are invited to sit and “play.” The project consists of a retrofitted antique organ, placed in the center of the building's cavernous second-floor gallery, that controls a series of devices attached to its structural features—metal beams, plumbing, electrical conduits, and heating and water pipes. These machines vibrate, strike, and blow across the building’s elements, triggering unique harmonics and producing finely tuned sounds. Under one of these high glass roofs and in an adjacent room are located the restaurant and the shop of the Museum, which director Marie-Claude Beaud asked Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to design. The main challenge under the glass roof was to counteract a strong light both direct and reverberated by the floor. Then, the idea was to create a congenial atmosphere in a monumental space by offering sheltered places favoring relaxation and meals. The restaurant’s structure contains two long tables made of Douglas fir tree, which seem to be levitating between the two rows of Thonet chairs. The tiles covering the wooden structures are elements of a new system of modular textile walls developed in 2006 together with Kvadrat, a textile manufacturer.
