Face à leur assiette, les hommes et les femmes agissent différemment: ces dernières font plus attention à l’équilibre alimentaire, avec pour conséquence un taux d’obésité plus faible . Visualizing Two Years Of Food Consumption In 40 Different Ways Communications designer Lauren Manning has taken the data of her personal food consumption for the last two years and visualized it in 40 different ways. The visualizations vary from extracting specific data points in a bar graph (e.g. french fries consumed per month), to all-inclusive data profiles depicting her consumption trends over the course of two years. As a method of presentation, the layouts facilitate comparing habits from one year to the next. For example, it appears Lauren has cut back on her pork consumption in 2010. The matrix above was featured as part of her thesis exhibition to guide onlookers along the x-axis from visualizations simple to complex, and on the y-axis from literal to abstract. Maybe it's an ingrained snacking habit from the countless bars eaten in the back seat of the car before ballet practice all through grade school. Or maybe it's the fact that I tend to get hangry if I go too long between meals. Either way, I nearly always have a granola bar or two close at hand. I've made a lot of granola bars over the years and have tried everything from honey to maple syrup to bind them together. Brown rice syrup is special because it is versatile. The granola bar recipe I've outlined below has my favorite ratios of oats, crispy cereal, nuts, and dried fruits, but it's really just a template. One note: I do still occasionally get bars that don't totally stick together, especially when I'm aiming for chewier bars and especially in hot and humid weather (since the sugar absorbs moisture from the air, I'm guessing).
