JCT contracts are used extensively throughout the industry – on four out of five of all building projects in the UK. The 2011 Edition updates the 2005 edition and includes the changes needed to accommodate the revisions to the Construction Act that come into effect on 1st October. The Public Sector Supplement is the first of its kind, is free of charge and contains: - Provisions to ensure alignment with the Government’s Fair Payment Guidelines. - A model clause authorising disclosures by public sector clients in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Government’s Transparency Policy.

3D-4D Building Information Modeling In 2003, the General Services Administration (GSA), through its Public Buildings Service (PBS) established the National 3D-4D-BIM Program. Since then, this program has evolved into a collaboration between the Public Buildings Information Technology Services (PB-ITS) and PBS, through its Governance Board. The program supports BIM uses across all PBS business lines. The power of visualization, coordination, simulation, and optimization from 3D, 4D, and BIM computer technologies allows GSA to more effectively meet customer, design, construction, asset management, facility management, and program requirements. There is a progression from 2D to 3D, 4D, and BIM. Critical to successful integration of computer models into project coordination, simulation, and optimization, as well as asset and facility management, is the inclusion of information—the “I” in BIM. The following are highlights of the GSA National 3D-4D-BIM Program: See the following pages for additional information:

BIM Definition | Efficient Construction Project Delivery Methods - Sustainability - 3D, 4D, 5D BIM - IPD, JOC, SABER, IDIQ, SATOC, MATOC, MACC, POCA .. ‘Building Information Modelling (BIM) is digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility creating a shared knowledge resource for information about it forming a reliable basis for decisions during its life cycle, from earliest conception to demolition.” “BIM provides a common environment for all information defining a building, facility or asset, together with its common parts and activities. This includes building shape, design and construction time, costs, physical performance, logistics and more. More importantly, the information relates to the intended objects (components) and processes, rather than relating to the appearance and presentation of documents and drawings.More traditional 2D or 3D drawings may well be outputs of BIM, however, instead of generating in the conventional way ie. as individual drawings, could all be produced directly from the model as a “view” of the required information.” – RICS

Journal of Building Information Modeling The National Institute of Building Sciences began publishing the bi-monthly Journal of the National Institute of Building Sciences (JNIBS) in June 2013, through a relationship with Stamats Commercial Buildings Group. The Institute's previous journals — the Journal of Building Enclosure Design (JBED), Journal of Building Information Modeling (JBIM), Journal of Advanced and High-Performance Materials (JMAT) and Journal of Hazard Mitigation and Risk Assessment (JHAZ) — have been amalgamated into this new periodical. The new JNIBS format will allow the Institute to expand coverage and highlight a number of additional program areas, including such recently established groups as the Low Vision Design Committee and the National Council of Governments on Building Codes and Standards. JNIBS is a free subscription. JNIBS April 2014 Material Resilience in Two Dimensions Cascading Effects: A Needed Metric for Resilient Infrastructures Advanced Materials: From Research to Practice

Beyond Design: the Construction and BIM blog By Guest Blogger: Dace A. Campbell, AIA, LEED AP "The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand." – Vince Lombardi It's Super Bowl week, and whether you're cheering for football's best offense in the Denver Broncos, or the Seattle Seahawks league-best defense, at the end of the game only one team will emerge from the swamps of New Jersey as the champion of the National Football League. Industry Champions Of course, in our industry, we hear about champions all the time. At Autodesk, we often have the pleasure of working with industry "BIM Champions" when we interface with our customers who use our tools and solutions. Don't Be a BIM Champion That's right, if you're a "BIM Champion," you should not be satisfied with that title. Here's what I mean: A "champion," as a noun, is the winner, the victor, the one who has defeated all others. Instead, Champion BIM -Dace

BIM Implementation in a Lean Operating System Spectacular Photorealistic Visuals with Architectural 3D Modeling The world is falling in love with such prim and aesthetically designed architectural 3D models. Exteriors, interiors, landscapes all can be modeled with accurate dimensions, realistic lighting and material mapping. 3D models for facades, building exteriors, and landscapes for Residential properties, commercial complexes and industrial structures are designed using highly sophisticated 3D CAD software and photo editing tools. Interiors for homes and offices are designed with great attention to details. Thematic design for living room, kitchen, bathrooms, office spaces etc becomes so easy. Minimalistic Serene Studio Apartment The process of creating 3D architectures includes drafting, 3D floor plans, developing 3D models and applying apt materials. Classic Living Room Decor Lighting and shadows are added and camera angles are set for better and comprehensive view. Pool Side View at a Resort These finished building models can also be animated for a detailed view of interiors and exteriors.
