Steam, Brass and Fzz March 27, 2013 Sculpture Dear friends, My brother and I recently spent a wonderful day with sculptor and all-round eccentric Alan Ross of ArtInSteel. 15 Elegant and Creative Ways to Maximize Space Under Your Stairs We’ve seen a lot of indoor arrangements where the space under the stairs is completely neglected. This usually happens because the owners fear not to overcrowd the living room or hallway. In this post we would like to present 15 creative and elegant ways on how to effectively use the space under your stairs without “damaging” your home’s appearance. In fact, we think the ideas below will help improve the overall design of the rooms where they are put to practice. If you are living in a small crib and feel the need for more space, you might consider improvising a bookcase, a home office or an entertaining area. We particularly like the cozy extendable bed in the first photo, which could turn out to be a good solution when receiving guests.
Къщата на хобитите в Уелс You are looking at pictures of a house I built for our family in Wales. It was built by myself and my father in law with help from passers by and visiting friends. 4 months after starting we were moved in and cosy. Victorian Organ Command Desk & Steampunk Home Tour You'll recall I recently visited the Steampunk home of Bruce and Melanie Rosenbaum. During that visit Bruce showed me a partially finished project that I decided really needed a story of it's own when it was completed This is the "Victorian Organ Command Desk" that Bruce commissioned. It's made from bits and pieces of Victorian detritus that Bruce had collected including the carcass of a 19th century pump organ. Architecture Imagine the renovation dilemmas. A huge penthouse of a converted 1930s office building in TriBeCa, New York, is to be turned into a functioning home for a family with three teenagers. In fact, we can not quite imagine the issues that faced Steven Harris Architects when the family showed up, literally, at the doorstep of the celebrated architect and asked if he’d like to work on their home. Harris said yes and proceeded to make his magic. The scale of the apartment is huge and the freedom from budget constraints allowed for some spectacular solutions.
Less is the New More: Making the Most of Small Spaces Good Design For Living in Small ApartmentsAs people migrate to smaller spaces, good design helps a lot. This is something they figured out in Europe long ago, that if you don't have a lot of horizontal room you can go vertical. Tumidei in Italy makes some of the nicest stuff, like this unit with lots of storage under the bed. This unit just raises the floor high enough for beds to slide under. This one looks a bit clinical, but has two single beds plus a pull-out double bed in between. Design and Inspiration Blog Steampunk Games & Game Art Wednesday, July 21, 2010 13:27 For today’s entry, with Steampunk week taking off and providing mechanical and steampowered inspiration to anyone who finds themselves here, we will be looking at something a bit different. Steampunk is becoming more and more popular, but it’s nothing new. We’ll be taking a look at some steampunk inspired computer games from the late 80′s to present day! (And even some steampunk takes on classics!).
How Steampunk Works" Flickering gas lamps puncture a thick London fog. A metallic, rhythmic noise begins to drown out the normal sounds of the evening. An army of copper clockwork automatons comes marching out of the darkness.
