home A Blog in Suburban Glory Tue 18th Jun 2013 I've been working full-time as a web developer since 2009, previously creating my first website with Microsoft's Frontpage in 2002 (remember that?!). Apart from a taking a few modules on an Open University course, I've gained 99% of my skills autodidactically. To do this... Thu 14th Mar 2013 These days autoloading PHP classes is the industry standard and if you write your plugins using Object Oriented code then you should look to using it too. I've just re-factored my Affiliate Hoover plugin Tue 5th Mar 2013 My last job at a large multi-national company before my contract expired was to code their Russian website. One day IE7 and IE8 will die out and be a distant memory just like Netscape 4.

How to make a realistic cable - Page 1 - Free Dynamics / FX Tutorials for Maya How to make a realistic cable (Maya Dynamics Tutorial) In this tutorial i`ll try to explain how to make a simple NURBS cylinder to behave like a real cable with gravity, some elasticity and all that real stuff. In this tutorial i`m assuming all the tools i`ll use are set to default settings. I`ll make a new display layer (with visible tuned off), and i`ll put the cable geometry inside because I don`t need it now. be enough. cable. of the curve inside a cluster. to a cluster. For this simulation i`ll use Maya`s dynamics system to deform the cable in a realistic way. I`ll build 4 little poly cubes and point-snap them to clusters. The two clusters positioned at the cable ends will be controlled by two locators, locators which will be used for control and animation. I`ll select all 4 cubes and make them active rigid bodies (one at the time), and with all 4 cubes selected i`ll apply a gravity field on them. cluster to corespondent cube/locator. i`ll do the same thing for cube_4 and locator_2.

Sketches of Topology Discover the world's most endangered species Wildscreen's Arkive project was launched in 2003 and grew to become the world's biggest encyclopaedia of life on Earth. With the help of over 7,000 of the world’s best wildlife filmmakers and photographers, conservationists and scientists, Arkive.org featured multi-media fact-files for more than 16,000 endangered species. Freely accessible to everyone, over half a million people every month, from over 200 countries, used Arkive to learn and discover the wonders of the natural world. Since 2013 Wildscreen was unable to raise sufficient funds from trusts, foundations, corporates and individual donors to support the year-round costs of keeping Arkive online. As a small conservation charity, Wildscreen eventually reached the point where it could no longer financially sustain the ongoing costs of keeping Arkive free and online or invest in its much needed development. Therefore, a very hard decision was made to take the www.arkive.org website offline in February 2019.

A Guide to “Hollywood Ugly” | Uproxx In February 2002 during their 11th season, The Simpsons skillfully summarized the idea of „ugly” people in major motion pictures: What is considered homely in Hollywood is “Mary Ann on Gilligan’s Island (…) TV ugly. Not ugly-ugly.” Look at that disgusting pig No one is holding it against movies for being escapist; God knows we have more than enough stuff to escape from (jobs, families, neighborhood drug dealers who still haven’t been paid). Due to many technical and legal limitations I cannot outright support the ingestion of powerful narcotics to get you into the mind of the people behind the idea of Hollywood Ugly, but I can do the next best thing and analyze just what idiotic tricks are used to achieve this effect. Imperfect = Monstrously Ugly Let’s talk about the opera… It’s boring. The Phantom living under the opera house is supposed to be hideous, a real monster (think the bastard love child of John C. Quick, lets climb that skyscraper! Brunette + Glasses = Hideous

Mandelbulb: The Unravelling of the Real 3D Mandelbrot Fractal Opening Pandora's Box For the Second Time ur story starts with a guy named Rudy Rucker, an American mathematician, computer scientist and science fiction author (and in fact one of the founders of the cyberpunk science-fiction movement). Around 20 years ago, along with other approaches, he first imagined the concept behind the potential 3D Mandelbulb (barring a small mistake in the formula, which nevertheless still can produce very interesting results - see later), and also wrote a short story about the 3D Mandelbrot in 1987 entitled "As Above, So Below" (also see his blog entry and notebook). So the idea slumbered for 20 years until around 2007. Although the second one looks somewhat impressive, and has the appearance of a 3D Mandelbulb very roughly, we would expect the real deal to have a level of detail far exceeding it. Zooming in reveals some interesting detail, but I didn't find a great deal beyond the usual chaos. Full size shown here. Is this merely a fool's quest? WOW!
