A Butterfly Effect Art Print by Norman Duenas New All « PrevNext » « Prev1234 ... 80Next » Video Transcript What is art? From the materials we use to the hands that ply them, we match the care that goes into everything we make to that of the artist that designed it. It begins with those thousands of artists entrusting their original work to another. It's the paper that isn't just paper, but pressed European cotton. It's the archival quality inks that mean your print outlives you. It's the craftsmen that print, cut, check and pack your art. All together, thousands of steps were taken to make your Art Print. This is our process. This is our art. At 3450 metres - Chitkul : A Perspective, a photo from Himachal Pradesh, North Critiques | Translate paromitadey Ki daroon jaigya. - StumbleUpon @lodown: That's the exact same impression I got from the images. I guess the intention wasn't to subvert, just 'put a new spin on', which is a shame. I like the images well enough, but 'oooh, pretty' doesn't make for very good art, it's just pretty. @lodown: No intention to subvert pinups. Where you get that notion? @silver-bolt: Well, that's why I said, "if". It seems to me that some of these illustrations depict beautiful women in classic pin-up style, but also dressed in outfits or in situations that reference BDSM, fascism, and gory violence. The women here are depicted as threatening, aggressive and even sadistic, but they're still sexy in the usual way (hourglass figures, Caucasian features, long limbs, able-bodied, etc.) I think a true subversion of the genre would be to depict non-typically pretty women (or men or transgendered persons) in the same sort of luscious, cheesecake poses. These are just idle thoughts, though.

Viewers are treated to different shifting perspectives of the works based on where they stand in the art space. Spriggs work revolves around powerful explosive imagery, often resembling storms, cosmic blasts or firework like explosions. Xiawan’s “spatial paintings,” which often feature distorted figures, are drawn individually using colored pencil on tinted glass. Only when these pieces are combined on their floor racks do the images create the whole hologram like effect.
