Climbing the Bloom’s Ladder with HOT Web Apps Apps and web apps are only as purposeful as the products and projects that they are used to create. After spending copious amounts of time publishing “Hot Apps 4 HOTS” to iBooks, I felt I should allocate some time to focus on web apps and how they too can be used to support higher order thinking skills. I decided to model how Todays Meet and Quizlet can be used in every level of Bloom’s to support student learning and application across the curriculum. She had this great idea for having her students write children’s story or a children’s show and asked me if there were any apps that would be good for this. Well, you can only imagine my delight! We decided upon allowing the students to choose from 3 apps: Puppet Pals, Toontastic, and Story Kit. The criterion were: 1 Character Archetype 1 Situational Archetype 1 Symbolic Archetype 1 Set of Foil Characters A non-traditional plot structure like the one we see in The Princess Bride Narrator with either 1st or 3rd Point of View She had a Storybook Final Assessment prepared with a checklist and rubric for the students. They then used this brainstorming list to write a reflection piece about their thinking behind why they chose the characters, point of view, archetype etc that they did. Five things to know before using Facebook Timeline apps Facebook finally unveiled a host of apps this evening that, coupled with Timeline profiles, will bring an entirely new experience to its users. Initially announced at the F8 conference in San Francisco last September, Timeline apps (also known as Open Graph apps) allow brands to add real-world interactions to their applications. Spotify was one of the first companies to release a Timeline app, letting users share what they are listening to with their Facebook friends in real time. For example as a user listens to a song on Spotify, the activity appears as, "Jane Doe is listening to July by Youth Lagoon on Spotify" on Facebook.
