Mar 17, 2012 Jirka Väätäinen is a Finnish designer and photographer currently studying graphic design at the Art University College at Bournemouth. His series on Behance titled Envisioning Disney Characters in “Real Life” is one of the most ‘appreciated’ (think of it as a Like on Facebook) projects of all time on Behance with 14,528 thumbs up at the time of this posting. Jirka has a really impressive portfolio of work not only on Behance, but on his personal blog as well. This is my experimental research in field of art, graphics, math, physics... I have fun to mix different subjects together and finding a new ways of expression. Some of them have great usage in new medias, production or simulations, some of them are just for fun. :) Experiments are created in Processing or Flash . Processing is a great open source programming language for artists.
Rune Guneriussen
These dream-like installations are assembled, and then photographed by Norwegian artist Rune Guneriussen. Just imagine being out for a walk in Norway’s countryside, turning a corner and discovering a magical forest of lamps, a tangle of chairs, or a river of books. Sadly, once the photograph is taken, Rune removes the installation, the only proof of it’s existence being these images… sort of like waking up from an amazing dream that you could have sworn was real. As an artist, I believe strongly that art itself should be questioning and bewildering as opposed to patronising and restricting. As opposed to the current fashion I do not want to dictate a way to the understanding of my art, but rather indicate a path to understanding a story.

November 24th, 2010 A while ago I bought lots of antique silver spoon sets when we visited Colin’s sister Morag and her family over the summer as they live near Spoon Central – a little village called Horncastle that is full to the brim with small antique shops. As I’ve been without my camera for what seems like months, I’ve not been able to photograph any of my ‘work in progress’ for a while. I have been busy, just not really been able to blog about it. Well my camera arrived back from the lab all shiny and new the other day and so today I spent some time taking images of the new rings I’ve made from the spoons I bought over the summer. So here are a few shots of my new rings – in spoon format and then transformed into things of beauty for someone special…
