What is SAP MDM Good For? Ever since I've heard of SAP MDM, I've been trying to figure out what it's good for, and why do "we" need another ERP module. So I ventured to the lair of the beast at www.sap.com, here's what I found there: A) "SAP NetWeaver MDM is an enabling foundation for enterprise services and business process management - providing a single version of the truth for customer, product, employee, supplier, or user-defined data objects." Wait, I've heard this before, haven't I? B) "MDM ensures cross-system data consistency through interactive distribution" ... err, what? C) "It (MDM) integrates business processes across the extended value chain, delivering features and functions to enable: 1. Hold on, this sounds familiar too, wasn't this also supposed to be handled already? 5. Isn't this what SAP's CM and or KM are all about? 9.
