Resources for Implementation Sample curriculum framework documents District curriculum framework documents need to address the curriculum at different grain sizes to be effective, and the Charles A. Dana Center supports districts in creating such framework documents. Sampled below are three of the four types of curriculum framework documents on which we work. These documents represent our thinking about how the concepts and skills described in the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics might be developed across the course of a school year. Year-at-a-glance Geometry Worksheets - high school math worksheets and exercises. printable worksheets > geometry worksheets & problems Below are a number of worksheets covering Euclidian Geometry problems. Geometry is the study of shape, size, position and space. It is after the Greek mathematician Euclid who around 300BC made a list of objects and assumptions (called axioms) from which all results follow.

Tasks, Units & Student Work - Common Core Library Keywords (optional) Enter keywords (e.g., K.OA.3, informational text, arguments, quadratic equations, etc.) Grade (select at least one) Subject (select one) NYC educators and national experts are developing Common Core-aligned tasks embedded in a unit of study to support schools in implementing the Citywide Instructional Expectations. Educators may choose to adopt these resources in their entirety or adapt the materials to best address students’ diverse needs. NCSM - Resources This webinar provides an overview of Curriculum Materials Analysis Tools recently developed by a committee led by Bill Bush at the University of Louisville. The set of three tools can assist textbook selection committees, school administrators, and K-12 teachers in the selection of curriculum materials that support implementation of the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics. The tools are designed to provide educators with objective measures and information to guide their selection of mathematics curriculum materials based on evidence of the materials' alignment with the CCSSM including the Standards for Mathematical Practice, grade level content, equity, technology, and assessment. Hands On Math: Teaching Integer Addition & Multiplication Tables Using Corn-hole Corn-hole has become all the craze for parties. I can think of a dozen different ways they could be used to teach math lessons. I will share two of these ideas below. Using Corn-hole to Teach Multiplication Tables This activity would be great for the whole class but I truly think it would be a wonderful tool for helping those students who are behind to catch-up. If I was still in the public schools, I would single out the students who still struggle with their multiplication tables and find time during activity period, study hall, etc for them to play this game.

Class dissection: 'Lesson study' aims to improve teaching In the sunlit library at Jorge Prieto Elementary on Chicago’s’ northwest side, an experiment is underway. A provisional classroom has been set up. A white board sits at the front of the room, and 20 eighth graders are seated at library tables. Distance Formula We have a right-angled triangle with hypotenuse length c, as shown: Recall Pythagoras' Theorem, which tells us the length of the longest side (the hypotenuse): c=sqrt(a^2+b^2) We use this to find the distance between any two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) on the cartesian (x-y) plane: The Cartesian Plane The cartesian plane was named after Rene Descartes.
