Please say hi to Rachael, who’ve I’ve been mentoring in the blog-world as a Steamy Kitchen intern. She’s a kick-ass gyoza ninja and I’ve asked her to write up her super-secret recipe for these savory pan-fried Japanese style dumplings. Rachael lived in Japan for a number of years and here’s her story and a step by step photo tutorial on how to make Gyoza. ~ Jaden How did a girl who was born in the Rocky Mountains and raised in California and who graduated with French and Law degrees end up writing a food blog called La Fuji Mama and striving to perfect her gyoza recipe? My kitchen consisted of a large sink, a gas range with two burners and a “fish fryer” beneath the burners (like a little mini broiler), a refrigerator that was considerably shorter than I was, a toaster oven, and two cupboards. I quickly settled into life, feeling much more comfortable the second time around, and trying to embrace the experience. Gyoza are really easy to make. 1. 2.

Cinnamon Roll Pancakes The original and unique Cinnamon Roll Pancake recipe created by Robin Sue! My little Deven loves pancakes and wants me to make them all the time, but I don’t often enough. Late last night my friend had spotted this Cinnamon Bun Pancake Recipe from the blogisphere and posted it on her Facebook status suggesting for her daughter to make them. Wow, Cinnamon Bun Pancakes, that would be a winner in my house too. So I went to bed with pancakes dancing in my head. I created a typical cinnamon roll filling and placed it in a pastry bag to be swirled over the pancakes as they cooked. After pouring 1/4 cup pancake batter in a hot skillet, I swirled the cinnamon filling mixture over top. Cinnamon Roll PancakesFor the Cinnamon Filling… In a large bowl, using a hand mixer, mix until smooth: 1 stick softened butter, almost melty 1 cup packed brown sugar 2 T. cinnamon Mix until smooth and pour into a second pastry bag just like you did with the cinnamon mixture above. Poached eggs You can poach eggs in advance and then reheat them when you need them, making it very easy toserving a larger crowd for brunch. Add vinegar to water in a deep pot (such as a stock pot). Bring the water to a boil and then back to a simmer. Crack an egg into a ladle or a small cup/bowl. With a spatula, stir the simmering water in a circle to create a funnel effect in the centre of the pot. Once the egg drops in, again stir around the egg a couple of times to keep the white from expanding. Allow to cook about 2 to 3 minutes (depending how runny you want the yolk) and remove with a slotted spoon. If you want to hold the eggs to serve later, have another pot or bowl of warm water ready and submerge your egg to keep it warm until needed.

When French Toast Met Pancakes | Tasty Kitchen Blog - StumbleUpon If you ever want me to like you, just make me a light, fluffy stack of pancakes. I’ll blush, I’ll smile a lot, I might propose–it’ll be weird and cute. Promise. Just when I thought pancakes couldn’t get any better, I stumbled upon this recipe by Tasty Kitchen member frecklesandsunshine. What makes this recipe so unusual (and delicious) is how the French toast is coated in a very thin pancake batter, creating an amazing crust around the bread. Let’s dive in, shall we? You’ll need some ingredients. I used brioche because I wanted something that would be able to take the heavy batter. In a large bowl, add the eggs and beat ‘em until they’re light and fluffy. Next, we’re just going to add all of the ingredients (minus the bread) one at a time. The baking powder … The vegetable oil … Vanilla extract (having fun yet?) Brown sugar … All-purpose flour … And lastly, the cinnamon. I sliced up the brioche and then cut the slices in half. Now for the fun part. And then … take a bite. Description
