La prima cosa che salta agli occhi vedendo le tele di Françoise Nielly sono le scale cromatiche di colori fluo e il rapporto armonioso che nonostante la carenza di sfumature naturali, rende il tutto straordinariamente reale ed espressivo. Nulla lascia intendere che la vera espressività di quest’artista francese, sta nella tecnica con cui lavora. Infatti, armata solo di spatole e cazzuole, spalma e raschia, in un modo tanto rude quanto delicato, colori ad olio su tele che ammirate dal vivo riempiono gli occhi di materia e colore. Miss Fluo (come si auto definisce), ha una pittura sensuale, esuberante e aggressiva grazie alla quale crea dei veri e propri capolavori. (click images for detail) For the better part of three decades multidisciplinary artist Guy Laramee has worked as a stage writer, director, composer, a fabricator of musical instruments, a singer, sculptor, painter and writer. Among his sculptural works are two incredible series of carved book landscapes and structures entitled Biblios and The Great Wall, where the dense pages of old books are excavated to reveal serene mountains, plateaus, and ancient structures. Of these works he says: So I carve landscapes out of books and I paint Romantic landscapes. Mountains of disused knowledge return to what they really are: mountains. Laramee’s next show will be in April of 2012 at the Galerie d’Art d’Outremont in Montreal.

Painting Intoxicated at 100 MPH
It's almost as if Alexandra Pacula paints what she sees while driving drunk at 100 mph. "My work investigates a world of visual intoxication; it captures moments of enchantment, which are associated with urban nightlife," says the New York-based artist born in Poland. "I am fascinated by the ambiance of the city at night and its seductive qualities. Pacula paints with oil to recreate the feeling of dizziness and confusion. "I suggest motion in order to slow down the scene and capture the fleeting moments, which tend to be forgotten," she says.
