Decorating with rope

Decorating with rope
Smiley did a post a while back on using rope in interior design – so here’s an update with some new pics! i posted this on Hello Giggles today and here’s what i wrote… “I love decorating with rustic materials (cue link to DIY burlap upholstered chairs) and rope totally ties into that… ha, get it, ties? Okay, let’s not get tangled in the silly stuff – the point is, rope is an easy and accessible item to use in interior decorating. Just visit your local hardware store and pick up a nice bundle for on-the-cheap! Rope doesn’t always have to look nautical; choose a darker, coarser rope to get away from the sea-faring look but if nautical is what you want, get a lighter colored cotton rope. All of these photos demonstrate how versatile rope can be in your interior decor projects.

Dream Home : Cool Apartment by Ghislaine Viñas Well, I’ve decided who I would like to adopt as my new best friend; Paige West, art collector and dealer- who’s home is an artists DREAM. West is not only a style maven, living in my dream home- but she’s also a contemporary-art expert and owner of Mixed Greens art gallery in Chelsea. The art dealers home is located in the amazingly trendy Tribeca area in a converted warehouse dating back to 1915- (more cool points, I know.) The interior is a “mashup” of all things that West has collected throughout the years, spanning various design tastes, eras and quirks. From vintage wooden chairs reupholstered in vinyl, to Alice Lam’s knitted sweater lamps- to Andy Warhol images and custom chandeliers by Suzan Etkin, there’s absolutely not a single inch of this home that isn’t sussed out in some artistic touch. The most amazing part is how they managed to make so many different artistic statement work together to perfectly? View Resources Here Photography by Eric Laignel.

Christmas Lights in 8 Bedrooms Posted by rd on Thursday, November 3, 2011 · Countdown begins before Christmas! And timely enough I’ve found these beautiful Christmas lights adorned bedrooms. They are so lovely I can’t stand it! Here’s a few discoveries, hope it inspires you! [source: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight] Cool Finds: Chalk It Up! There are three places I’ve been dreaming about coating with chalkboard paint. The first is my kitchen… the wall behind my stove and the wall where my counters/sink sits. I’d write recipes and quotes and notes to remember. The second is my daughter’s bedroom. Here are a few rooms that use chalkboard in ways which tickle my fancy just so! When I was in university, I painted my closet door with black chalkboard paint and all I really remember was how TERRIBLE the paint smelled! Have you ever used chalkboard paint? This was definitely the case when I came across SummerHouse Style (located in MS). This fabulous boutique is owned by Interior Designer Lisa Palmer. I’m such a huge fan of white accents on a rich brown wackground (typo, but it stays haha!!). Love this rich brown leather sofa, the nailhead trim makes it just perfect. Some white and brown bedroom inspiration. Another absolutely perfect sofa, paired with a beautiful mirrored coffee table.

Cool Finds: In My Dream… Bathroom! My home decor daydreams are continuing, and this time we’re headed to the one of the smallest rooms in any given house. I enjoy bathrooms which are simple, minimalistic, cheerful, inviting & homey. Walk-in showers, claw foot tubs, natural elements and a lot of while are all things that make smile! Follow me! Source. This room would be fantastic to wake up to — I can just imagine taking a good morning shower & enjoying all that space & light. What I love: The gorgeous walk-in shower, the tiles, all those plants near the beautiful glass tile wall & the matching green towels. Source. I think this tile play is completely clever. What I love: The classic use of black & white, the pot lights up above the shower & the candles in their recessed shelving. Source.
