Geometric Photo Art Project

Geometric Photo Art Project
Amanda, of Indie Jane, and I have been dreaming up extra pretty projects for you this coming season. When the idea of a geometic photo collage was tossed around we both got really excited about it! What we love about this project is how personal it can become. I'm thinking of making one with wedding photos for my bedroom... how sweet would that be? Supplies Needed: Poster board (cut slightly larger than the frame you wish to use), glue or double-sided tape, scissors, triangle template to trace (mine was 2.5 inches on each side of the triangle using a ruler), paint swatches in colors you love, vintage book pages, and a few of your favorite photos. 1. Display your new art in your home!

Make Your Own Stationery Set I don't know about you, but I'm forever looking for cute stationery! I love giving handmade cards with all my gifts. Here's a quick and simple craft project for creating your own stationery! The best part is, you can create a whole year's supply in one day while using up scraps. You'll need: A plain white card set, a colored envelope set, coffee and scrap fabric. Next, just cut out rectangles of pretty fabric and stitch them into your card with your home sewing machine. One last tip- If you enjoy this project, make a second set as a gift for a friend! Have a great day! How To Mix Chalkboard Paint in Any Color We love using chalkboards as backdrops for displays and parties (like this one here!). So we were super excited to learn that you can create your own custom colors-and it's really easy! We first learned how from Martha Stewart whose tutorial you can read here. Supplies: 1/2 cup acrylic paint (choose any color you like, or mix colors together to make the perfect shade!) 1. 2. Once your chalkboard has fully dried be sure to slate the surface before using it for the first time. Have fun creating any color combination you like!!

Fun with Fabric Pens I must confess, I've often passed by the fabric markers in the craft store thinking they were for kiddos. But one day I decided to give them a chance and picked up a pack. I'm so glad I did! 1. I love how to clean lines contrast with the imperfect hand drawings! D.I.Y. Instagram Calendar As you know, I've made it my New Year's goal to complete 52 crafts projects in 2012. Just simple and fun projects to use for my home, get organized, to wear and sometimes to give as gifts. Even though it's not quite yet the new year, I decided to go ahead and get rolling! Supplies needed: 12 subject images (I used instagram pictures of my dog), plain poster board, a mini calendar (or you can create your own calendar pages), scissors, glue, yarn and decorative paper for the cover (I used silver glitter craft paper). 1. Easy, huh?

Camera Cozy D.I.Y. Today, my pal Kyla Roma is going to share a really fun (and useful!) do-it-yourself camera cozy! Enjoy... One of my favorite things to blog about are every day moments I capture with my husband and friends- but I don't like leaving my cameras rattling loose in my bag, and having a heavy duty camera bag taking over my life is not in my plans! Supplies Needed: fabric, pencil, scissors, needle, thread & a sewing machine 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Slip your camera inside and button the cozy around the strap of your bag to try it out... (It's a perfect fit!) With your camera cozy in tow you'll be prepared for cute, candid moments whenever they happen. Thanks, Kyla, for this adorable project!

Flavored Popcorn Kit (gift idea) I love making popcorn at home. Whether I'm getting ready to snuggle under some blanket and watch a movie, or am just in the mood for a late night snack- popcorn is my go-to favorite! Here's a great little gift idea of any popcorn lover you might know. Pair little bags of dressed up popcorn kernels with disposable popcorn bags (or boxes) and flavored salts. I made three different flavor combinations. Here are the simple recipes for each flavored salt: Salt and Pepper- If you can toast your peppercorns before grinding. These cute kits make great gifts! Song Lyric Wall Art / D.I.Y. Project A couple weeks ago, I found a paint-by-number at an unbeatable price. I can't pass these things up even though I already owned this particular design. I thought that I could maybe use it to make a fun D.I.Y., but my new rule is that all thrifts that I purchase with the intent of restyling need to get done right away. Here's how I did it... I displayed our piece in our bedroom, on Jeremy's side of the bed. A couple weeks ago, I found a paint-by-number at an unbeatable price.

Yearbook Votive D.I.Y. We're so excited to share our first webisode! We're calling this new project The Red Velvet Workshop. In this series we will be teaching DIY projects, recipes and beauty tutorials! Our first episode shares how to make these pretty yearbook votives. We used our parent's yearbook photos! Enjoy.... Thanks so much for taking a peek at our brand new series!
