Make my Week #23 - sweatshirt restyle like my new mustard blazer? here is what it used to look like: an XL men's sweatshirt (who had the good fortune of being a delightful colour!) gather here, snip there... surprisingly it worked, is comfy, and i have worn it lots! Recycle Tutorial - Making Of T-Shirt Yarn Recycle TutorialTools & Materials: 1. T-shirts (those without side-seam) 2. A pair of sharp scissors Place the T-shirt flat on the floor or working table. We only need the bottom-halve portion of the T-shirt. Fold the T-shirt from side to side, leaving an inch allowance as shown. Cut into strips as shown, remember not to cut the 1 inch allowance. Finish cutting the T-shirt from top to bottom evenly. Unfold the 1 inch allowance and it will look as shown below. The next process is to make a slant cut from strip 1 to strip 2, strip 2 to strip 3 and so on in order to create a continuous strip for the whole T-shirt. I purposely leave the first strip uncut until I have finished all. Now, I have a loooooooong strip of continuous T-shirt yarn waiting for the next process. Next is to turn the strip into a tubular yarn. See, the strip will curl and form a tubular shape after the tug. The strip has now turned into tubular yarn, from Fettuccine to Spaghetti ***wink***.

Recycle Tutorial - Making Of T-Shirt Yarn Another tutorial to help save our Mother Earth by turning unwanted items into something useful. This is the yarn ball I made out of an old T-shirt which I have been wearing for 10 years day-in day-out, wash-in wash-out. It finally broke down and tore at the collar and sleeves. Waste not, want not, I decided to recycle it. I have finished making the drawstring bag as shown above. {CLICK HERE to get the Recycle Tutorial – Making Of T-Shirt Yarn.} Pages: 1 2 Print / Download PDF

Tear out 6 magazine pages. Cut off the ragged edge on each, then cut each page in half lengthwise. I stacked them and cut them all at once with an X-acto knife and ruler. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. V and Co how to: jersey knit bracelet i don't know what it is about this time of year that makes me just want to have my bare feet in the sand, be watching the sun setting into the ocean, and breathing in the warm salty air of the beach...as i get older, more and more i find myself missing that place i used to go to almost every.single.day. as a teen. (my skin doesn't miss it. as a matter of fact, i now wish i listened more and DID put SPF on my face...hindsight is 20/20). my mom calls me from her walk on the beach almost every morning...*sigh*yeah, i get a little homesick around this time of the year. heck on my pinterest my "dreaming of summer" has the most pictures in it. ah yes. i miss my ocean. case in point. this bracelet, brought a flood of memories, not because i used to have one like it but because i can totally see me wearing it by the beach, not caring that it's gotten salty and wet, because i can totally make another one in like less than 5 minutes flat when i get home. *sigh* okay... *cut off excess tails!
paper tart: How to Make Plastic Shrink Charms from Recycled Plastic I have been playing with making my own shrinky dinks from recycled plastic packaging.#6 clear plastic works the best - I tried #1 and that just went all rubbery and milky. I'm not the first to come up with this technique so I'll list a few places I found that inspired me at the end of this post. On to to the tutorial! First, gather your materials.Scissors, #6 plastic container washed and stickers removed (I use rubbing alcohol to get the adhesive off) fine tip permanent marker, fine grit sand paper, colored pencils, and a heat gun or an embossing gun. Step 1: Cut out the tops and bottoms of the plastic containers to get nice flat pieces of plastic. Step 2: Draw your design on the plastic with the permanent marker. Step 3: Sand the back of your image. Step 4: Color the sanded side of the plastic with colored pencil. View of the back of the piece after it is completely colored in. Step 5: trim out your design and punch holes if you want to sew it or hag it from something.
Elisa Nest Tote This pretty tote bag was designed by Elisa, an Italian knitter and blogger who saw the Climbing Trellis Lace Pattern here on the Purl Bee. She calls it her "No More Plastic Bag, Thank You!" It is a fast knit that takes only a few hours to complete. Elisa's Nest Tote can be made from just about any cotton yarn (linen or hemp yarn work nicely, too). We would choose this dainty and durable tote over a plastic bag any day! Elisa's Nest Tote measures about 8 inches wide and 12 inches long when empty.
