Felt Photo Frame Magnets and Felt Flower Magnets Felt picture frame fridge magnets (and felt flower fridge magnets) Supplies: Different colors of felt, scissors, glue gun, buttons, needle and thread, plastic, pictures, round magnets First, cut out two identical rectangles of fabric about 2 inches wide and 3 inches long (like a wallet size photograph). Cut a window in one of the pieces of felt. Using a hot glue gun, glue the plastic rectangle to the inside of the window. Now sew the two felt rectangles together, making sure that the plastic is on the inside. There are so many different fun ways that you could decorate these frames. Now to make this purple flower, cut out 5 small petals. Glue the ends of the petals together by pinching them into the shape shown below and adding glue in all 3 slots. Now decorate the frames. Insert the pictures. I decided to turn the frames and a handful of felt roses into fridge magnets. You can put them on a filing cabinet or dry erase board.

How I use the Road Writing | Therapy Fun Zone digg Sharebar 8 Email Share digg I am writing a lot about the roads that I made because I have been working on them for so long, and have been keeping myself from writing about them until they were done. I use the big roads and letters, and the maps the most. I made the skinny roads because I wanted to have the letters magnetic as well as the roads, but I didn’t want to have to print on 52 magnet sheets. If I had to choose only one set though, it would be either the big roads, or the road maps due to the motivation factor of using the matchbox cars with them. When I print the roads, I print them on printable magnet sheets , then I cover the top with a sticky laminating sheet. (can do it on the cold setting too), and then I cut out the road shapes. The kids that have been using these see me pull them out, and they immediately want to pick a car to use. These roads are really great for working on visual perceptual skills that are directly related to handwriting. Materials: Skills:

Il y a une série de motifs et une série de lettres capitales. motifs lettres Thor Costume (for DailyBuzz Moms 9x9) If you're dropping in from DailyBuzz Moms, then welcome! A couple of weeks ago I finished a funny viking Halloween costume for my youngest son, Baden. You can see it HERE. Ridiculously good looking, incredibly strong, and a cool hammer? We wanted it to be the true old school Thor, so this picture was our inspiration. So. let me give you a run down of the details. I ripped open the boxes and cut out several cone shapes. I spray painted it black and them dry brushed silver over the top, to give it a real metal look. I cut chunks off chunks of the wig and glued it around the inside of the hat. Ta-dah! Let's break down the outfit. I purchased a black onesie in the largest size I could find. The boot covers aren't too hard to make. The cape was made using my Mom's cape pattern which you can find HERE. We already had the hammer. And there you have it. The world is now a bit safer with this little Thor around. Thanks for dropping in.

OT Tools for Public Schools CLASSROOM QUANDRIES: So what do I do about…A poor grasp of the pencil The first few weeks of the school year are truly a new beginning for all of us. We return to school with fresh ideas and renewed enthusiasm. It's a time of new beginnings for our students, too. Most of our students have taken a long break from the typical school activities they now use each day--writing, cutting with scissors, organizing their notebooks and desks.. Let's think about how to promote a good grasp of the pencil, crayon or marker. Using a writing instrument is a skill that also follows an orderly progression. Children use different ways of grasping things according to the way the writing surface is placed. Keep in mind that in order to have a good grasp a child must have normal strength in his arms and hands. But here we are in school and we have some students who demonstrate very unusual grasps. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. One note about fatigue and discomfort reported by students. 6.

Tutorial: Homemade Sidewalk Chalk by Michelle Vackar, Modern Handmade Child One of our favorite outside activities at our home is drawing with chalk on the driveway. You can play hopscotch, four-square, and of course draw and create silly stories. My daughters and I were talking one day as we played hopscotch about how to make chalk and I thought to myself, let’s try it! It ended up being quite a lot of fun. What you will need: • Toilet paper or paper towel tubes • Scissors • Duct tape • Wax paper • Small bucket or disposable container to make the recipe • ¾ cup of warm water • 1 ½ cups Plaster of Paris • 2-3 tablespoons of tempera paint • Paper bag or a “mess mat” ** we made six tubes of chalk – we simply doubled the above recipe Step 1: If you are using paper towel tubes, cut each tube in half, so it is roughly the length of a toilet paper roll tube. Step 2: Cover one end of each tube with duct table to hold the contents within. Step 3: Cut as many pieces of wax paper as you have tubes.
