So, I decided I’d learn to make my own, and as it turns out, it’s quite easy! Here’s my step-by-step tutorial. 1. Stuff you need: -A double boiler (this one is from Ikea) -Containers. –Wax. -Wicks. -Essential oils for fragrance and dyes for color. 2. 3. 4. When you pour the wax, the wick is going to get all sad and limp. 5 . 6. 7. 8. Trouble shooting: -Flashing: You over-poured or hit the side of your container. You might notice a lot of doilies in my recent diy projects. Since I was getting so many ready for A Christmas Gathering I used a lot of the same materials…monograms seems to be pretty popular now too. Canvas bag ($2.00 when on sale at Hobby Lobby), fabric paint, paper doily, Krylon Paper Finishes Adhesive Spray : Spray doily with paper spray adhesive and press down on the bag (not shown). : Gently paint over the holes – I recommend paint meant for fabric, not crafts. : Peel back doily before paint dries. Bag after doily is removed I traced on my letter and filled it in with paint. For a cook: fill it with cooking supplies For a gardner: fill it with gardening supplies For a teacher: lots of fake wood painted apples (I’m kidding)…maybe find out an activity they enjoy and do something related to that
Framing three of my favourite quotes on my $0 budget As you know, I am one week into my month of not spending and it is going extremely well. I have only been to one store and that was to do some groceries. I only bought fresh fruit and veggies, milk, and bread...ok that is not 100% true...I also bought a bag of chips. I know chips aren't a necessity, but that is my vice. On to my $0 budget post! I have a small wall in my ensuite bathroom that has always seemed bare. Well, I was digging through some boxes that have never been unpacked since we moved in almost 2 years ago and I found three matching panoramic frames. After pulling out the wonderful photos and touching up some minor scuffs with my amazingly handy Sharpie, I decided I would frame three of our favorite quotes. I found a piece of scrapbook paper (12 x12 inch) that matched my bathroom and the frames perfectly. Here are the three images (sorry for the poor photos, I will try again tomorrow when there is better light) Total cost $0!!

Don’t laugh, but I secretly have no idea how I pulled it off…but that’s not what I’m telling Anna. It actually started when we were hunting for reclaimed wood to use on a TV stand project. There we were, an old floorboard, a confused blogger and mug of tea – in a shed with no idea what to do. The floorboard was fairly worn and a little dull, but a quick rub down with some wire wool bought it back to life. DIY Macrame Bracelet Growing up by the beach in Southern California, the ability to knot a macrame bracelet was practically a right of passage. Although those days are long behind us, we’ve never forgotten the ever-so-simple square knot technique. This time, however, we’re replacing hemp and wooden beads for more updated elements like colorful nylon cord and glossy metal charms. You’ll need: Start by cutting the knotting cord into two 30 inch, two 20 inch and one 10 inch lengths. Center the 30 inch cord under the two middle strands. Pull tightly and slide the knot up to the top. Finish the 2nd half of the square knot by folding the left cord over the middle strands and under the right cord. Pull tightly and repeat the steps – left, right, left, right . . . To finish the knots, thread one of the cords onto a needle and sew up the center of 3-4 knots along the backside. Repeat the same step on the other cord. After sewing up both knotting cords, trim away any excess.
How To Mix Chalkboard Paint in Any Color We love using chalkboards as backdrops for displays and parties (like this one here!). So we were super excited to learn that you can create your own custom colors-and it's really easy! We first learned how from Martha Stewart whose tutorial you can read here. She recommends that you use latex paint, but we tried it out with acrylic paints with much success. Supplies: 1/2 cup acrylic paint (choose any color you like, or mix colors together to make the perfect shade!) 1. 2. Once your chalkboard has fully dried be sure to slate the surface before using it for the first time. Have fun creating any color combination you like!!

Dream Big Butterfly Window - Resin Craft | Pretty Handy Girl Phew, what a week. I’ve been working on about 5 different projects simultaneously. The biggest accomplishment this week was my screened porch makeover. I have been itching to make it an outdoor living and relaxing room for about 4 years now. Well, it is about 95% done. One of the projects I completed for the porch was an old curbside window that I turned into a unique piece of art using a product that ETI sent me. I have to admit, I was a little scared of the EnviroTex Lite. The utility lighter was more within my comfort level.
