Mont des Arts
Contributed by Fabian Jean Villanueva of Base Design. Mont des Arts/Kuntsberg is an area in Brussels that houses more than twenty museums and cultural institutions. The members of the Mont des Arts needed a common identity, a unifying factor to promote and mark off the neighbourhood. Base designed the quarter’s identity and created a communication strategy to revalue the area and attract a more diverse public. The chosen typeface references classic sans serifs but remains thoroughly modern.

If you’re a fan of music, film, technology, and the tech scene, you probably know about SXSW, an Austin-based set of conferences and festivals that take place every March. Last year, Paul Edmondson spoke at SXSW about bringing back the love when Google hates you (remember the Panda days? I try not to), and this year we’d like to speak again, though we can’t make it without your help and support.

I went to see tUnE-yArDs on Monday night with some friends, and as always we wanted to cook a meal that somehow related to the show we were heading to. Sometimes this is hard to do, but other times it seems to come naturally. Finding culinary inspiration in Merrill's lyrics seemed like it would be tough, but my sister knew what she wanted to make without hesitation. "How about something layered, because of all the vocal and instrument layering in the music?" From there we worked together to come up with this deep, colorful, and multi-flavored lasagna version of a timpano.
