Australian and US scientists reverse ageing in mice, humans could be next Updated Sat 21 Dec 2013, 1:27am AEDT Australian and US researchers have developed a compound which reverses muscle ageing in mice, saying it could be one of the keys to reversing ageing in humans. When used in trials, the compound gave mice more energy, toned their muscles, reduced inflammation, and led to big improvements in insulin resistance. Scientists say it actually reversed the ageing process, not just slowing it down, and say that for humans the effect would be similar to a 60-year-old feeling like a 20-year-old. And they say human trials could start within the year. The study has been published this morning in the research journal Cell. "I've been studying ageing at the molecular level now for nearly 20 years and I didn't think I'd see a day when ageing could be reversed. "The mice had more energy, their muscles were as though they'd be exercising and it was able to mimic the benefits of diet and exercise just within a week."

18 Food Replacement Hacks that Make Healthy Eating Easy I'll admit it. I think it's difficult to eat healthy all of the time. I do pretty well most of the time, but the best technique by far that I've used to be sure that I'm eating healthy meals regularly is to simply replace unhealthy ingredients with something healthier. I don't mean replacing it in your recipe... I mean trying to replace it in your kitchen or pantry. If unhealthy ingredients aren't around, you don't use them. 18 Healthy Food Replacement Hacks that Make Healthy Eating Easy 11 Simple Remedies to Get Rid of Blackheads After doing the list on home remedies for acne, we started getting a lot of questions about blackheads in particular. Common and annoying, blackheads occur when your pores become clogged with excess sebum (an oil created by the sebaceous glands that keeps skin supple) and dead skin cells. The difference between a black head and a white head is simply whether or not the pore is open or closed. If the pore is open, the plug of sebum/skin cells oxidizes as it is in contact with the oxygen in the air, which turns it black. Blackheads are not caused by dirt. 1. Roundup Linked to Global Boom in Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance Celiac disease, gluten intolerance and irritable bowel syndrome are on the rise worldwide, and that rise has taken place in parallel with the increased use of glyphosate (Roundup) herbicide, shows a new US peer-reviewed paper from Dr. Anthony Samsel and Dr. Stephanie Seneff. The review has been published in the Journal of Interdisciplinary Toxicology. Find Full Review Paper Here Roundup is linked in Samsel and Seneff’s new review paper to a major increase in celiac disease. “All of the known biological effects of glyphosate – cytochrome P450 inhibition, disruption of synthesis of aromatic amino acids, chelation of transition metals, and antibacterial action – contribute to the pathology of celiac disease,” Samsel and Seneff’s paper states. Monsanto’s Glyphosate (Roundup) has become the number one selling herbicide worldwide, due to the increase in the planting of Roundup Ready GM Crops. What is Celiac Disease? 12 Healthy Brown Bag Lunches Are you tired of lunch being an overpriced, nutritional train wreck? Do you groan and drag your feet every time you think about packing a lunch? Living Well Trends Week One After one week on the diet using Garcinia Cambogia I was surprised at the dramatic results. My energy level was up, and I wasn't even hungry, an apparent side effect of the Garcinia Cambogia which curbs the appetite. I honestly felt fantastic. And I didn't even change anything about my daily routine. Week Two After two weeks of using Garcinia Cambogia, I started the week off with even more energy and was actually sleeping more soundly than before. I must admit that I'm starting to believe that this diet is more than just a gimmick. Week Three After 3 weeks all my doubts and skepticism had absolutely vanished! Week Four After the fourth week, my final results were shocking. "I couldn't be any happier with the results. I Lost 27 lbs in 4 Weeks, No Special Diet, No Intense Exercise"

Eating for Your Chakras Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means "wheel.” A chakra is a wheel of energy that spins around its own axis and can spin quickly or slowly. A chakra will spin in relation to the energy level of your system. Where will you find these chakras? Today we know that living cells from humans, animals and plants give off invisible energies. The 7 Centers of Energy The human body's system consists of sensory, breathing, circulation, digestion, reproduction and secretion. The chakras change energy from one level to another by distributing ki, or “life energy,” (also called chi or prana, depending on the belief system) to the physical body. Physical problems are often the result of a blockage in the energy flow in the system, made up of meridians and chakras, causing the organs or glands to not function properly.

Gluten Intolerant? You May Just Be Intolerant of Monsanto Weed Killer Published on February 19th, 2014 | by Jason Louv Scientists suggest that Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide is what’s making people have such a nasty reaction to gluten Gluten has been a major news item for the last few years—not just for sufferers of acute gluten intolerance and celiac disease, but for increasing numbers of people who are seeking to eliminate gluten from their diet for general health issues, weight control, skin health and even mood. As cholesterol and carbs once were, gluten is the new enemy, to the point that some have claimed it’s a substance that the body isn’t equipped to handle. I’ve even heard people blame gluten for all of the ails of modern civilization: After all, the cultivation of wheat, some say, is the birth of agriculture, and the ownership of crops goes hand in hand with the ownership of people that characterizes patriarchal, hierarchical civilization. 1200 Calorie Diet and Meal Plan 1200 calories per day is about the lowest a woman should go when aiming for fat loss. This level of calories has been found to help with weight loss in trials. For men this figure is around the 1500-1700 calorie mark. This varies greatly depending on your height, weight, and level of physical activity. It is advisable to find your individual calorie needs rather than going by generalized guidelines. To find your daily calorie needs use the Daily Calorie Needs Calculator. As a (somewhat sobering) guideline, a Big Mac, Large Fries, and Large Coke from McDonald's amounts to 1,350 calories! See also: 1000 calories, 1100 calories or browse all meal plans. Startup Will Soon Offer Home Test for Telomere Length Testing to Assess Disease Risk and Longevity « phase2minds Posted by David Korsunsky on May 25, 2013 in Health | 2 comments In this post I’ll cover an exciting new company I discovered at the recent Quantified Self Silicon Valley Meetup Group. The company is called “Telome Health” and they are close to launching a service that will offer high quality telomere testing for individuals who want to measure their telomere length. This is an extremely exciting service because telomere length is considered to be the most accurate predictor of an individual’s disease risk and life expectancy. According to the Telome Health website: “Telomere length is one of the best biomarkers of overall health status. Telomeres are the protective caps at the end of our DNA and they protect cells from the diseases of aging, much like the plastic tips at the end of a shoelace protect the lace from fraying. Not surprisingly, one of the most common sources of premature telomere damage is emotional stress. Additional resources: Press release Did you find this post helpful?
