R E V I T C O M P O N E N T S How it Works | Sheerwind Watch this: Watch 3 actual turbines in action! SheerWind’s INVELOX Wind Delivery is simply a better way to harvest wind energy. Wind is captured at the top of the funnel shaped INVELOX system. This system of capturing, concentrating, accelerating, and harvesting wind power in a funnel is a patented system we call INVELOX™ (for INcreased VELocity). SheerWind’s mission is to provide sustainable, affordable, electrical energy to anyone, anywhere. INVELOX is scalable, equally suitable for use in major wind farms or micro-generation settings. inShare213

Revit Zone Home Page Lighting Design and Analysis in Revit | AUGI As the Building Information Modeling (BIM) “movement” continues to evolve—or mature—it is only natural that we now have more advanced features to discuss in the world of lighting design. In this article I will present an add-in for Autodesk® Revit® called ElumTools, developed by Lighting Analysts. First, we will take a high-level look at this tool’s capabilities and then look more specifically at a few recent developments since this product hit the market in mid-2011 when I started using the beta version. Finally, I will briefly mention two other related offerings in the BIM daylighting-design arena. Basic Requirements Middle School designed by LHB, Inc. The basic requirements for lighting analysis and design in Revit are highlighted in the box below. The execution of an accurate calculation of illuminance (fc or lux) on a surface or work plane requires that the following quantities be defined: Model Setup The following steps must be taken in Revit prior to using ElumTools. For example:

Revit Components The Best 10 Motivational Videos For 2013 Once in a while a video comes along that is powerful enough to transcend language barriers and speak directly to our soul. That’s why today I’ve decided to do a list with the motivational videos that had great impact on me and have served me as a motivational source almost on a daily basis. They stop growing, they stop working on themselves, they stop stretching, they stop pushing themselves. If today were the last day of my life – by Steve Jobs Key Quote: Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. Be Phenomenal – MotivationGrid Remember Me – Devinsupertramp Vision – Mateusz M Key Quote: We have to see ourselves there long before it happened. How Bad Do You Want It – Eric Thomas Key Quote: When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe then you’ll be successful. The Greatest Speech Ever Made – Charlie Chaplin

The 100 Things Every Revit User Should Know – RVIT Back at the old CADD Blog, I just wrapped a series of tips blog posts covering a hodge-podge of tips and tricks for Revit users that I (and many other) have collected over the years. I thought I’d like to collect them all here for easy clicking. Enjoy! Advertisements Like this: Like Loading... Revit OpEd: Revit MEP - Light Levels Jason Combs a P.E. (Professional Engineer) with Woolpert, Inc. was worried about me. He noticed that I hadn't posted in a couple days and sent me this so I could keep on track. Jason writes: Adjusting the elevation of a light inside of a space will change the lighting level in the room. Light families must have a light source to add illumination to a room. The illumination in a space is related to a light family's Illuminance. The Light Source location is what matters when it comes to measuring the illumination in a space. Without the Light Source visible it would appear that this standard troffer light in the following image is outside the space. Here's an example illustrating that the Light Source location affects lighting calculations. In the following example it appears that Adjusting the Tilt Angle of the Light Source did not change the illumination calculation within the space. Thanks for sharing this Jason!

Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure - at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden Deadline: January 15, 2014 Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure provides the tools to solve futures environmental problems and water issues. Our courses in, for example, environmental assessment and water resources engineering prepare students for careers as environmental engineers. Students will increase their understanding of the properties and functions of waters and ecosystems, learn how to assess the local and global environmental impacts of human activities, and apply advanced methods, techniques and modelling tools to describe, quantify and solve environmental problems. Career prospectsOur society has major challenges in managing a changing climate, developing and securing good water quality, developing systems for recycling materials and nutrients, and developing renewable and environmentally smart energy solutions. The needs of environmental engineering expertise are therefore almost endless, and the labour market is very diverse.
