The second edition of the "Essential Mathematics for Computational Design" is now available with free download Essential Mathematics uses Grasshopper to introduce design professionals to foundation mathematical concepts that are necessary for effective development of computational methods for 3D modeling and computer graphics. This second edition includes a few new sections, but most importantly, it carefully reviews the material to ensure clarity and consistency of all concepts. This edition also includes all 31 Grasshopper samples in a separate file.

Parametric Wood 3D Laths This is an update that will generate 3 dimensional laths for rendering purposes. Work Credit by percentage: Daniel: 60% Jason: 25% Fabrication » Parametric Modeling Grasshopper: Parametric TrussThis module covers the basic parametric properties of curves and most common methods for evaluating and dividing curves, while applying these concepts to build a parametric truss. Grasshopper : Lists + Data MatchingThis module covers some of the basics about the Grasshopper interface, basic understanding of the logic of parametric design (inputs, outputs, and relation-based information flow), information management using data lists and looping, and applying these concepts by creating a responsive surface using an attractor point. Generative Algorithms: Porous Shell by Zubin M Khabazi (2011) Introduction by Zubin Khabazi The idea behind the ‘Generative Algorithms, Concepts and Experiments’ is to explore design and algorithmic solutions through experiments rather than pure geometrical/algorithmic subjects. Using current design problems or ongoing researches, here the development of such subjects pursued with a parametric approach in Grasshopper/Rhino Environment. This book is a part of a research that was accomplished as a master thesis in Architectural Association, Emergent Technologies and Design course under supervision of Michael Hensel, Mike Weinstock and Achim Menges. Grasshopper For designers who are exploring new shapes using generative algorithms, Grasshopper is a graphical algorithm editor tightly integrated with Rhino’s 3-D modeling tools. Unlike RhinoScript, Grasshopper requires no knowledge of programming or scripting, but still allows designers to build form generators from the simple to the awe-inspiring. What is Grasshopper? Example of a grasshopper model to design a sun shading system

Grasshopper fundamentals Parametric modeling from beginner to intermediate 2014 December 1-3 14.45-17.45 UTC = 15.45-18.45 CET = 09.45-12.45 EST = 06.45-09.45 PST Instructors Ilaria Giardiello, Giulio Piacentino This course is meant for every designer, engineer and architect who wants to get a solid basis of generative and parametric modeling within their Rhino workflow. Safavid Surfaces and Parametricism The development of specialized treatments of concrete and glass, customization through digital fabrication, and parametric design tools have brought about a contemporary resurgence of surface articulation, reopening the general issue of surface composition as a “legitimate” aspect of design, after almost a century of (near) omission by modernism. A wide variety of firms, among them Zaha Hadid (Patrik Schumacher), Herzog and de Meuron, Weil Arets, Aranda\Lasch and Foreign Office Architects, have been reintroducing this aspect of design -- most notably the last, which in addition to built work, Farshid Mousavi’s The Function of Ornament includes surface articulation as part of its theoretical explorations. The surface articulations to be discussed are: 1) the ceiling of the dome, and 2) the corner, where the square of the floor plan is reconciled with the circle of the base of the dome. The Ceiling Overall ceiling pattern breakdown Ceiling "pod" comparson

RHINO: GRASSHOPPER DEFINITIONS - RHINO / GH This definition was developed for my final thesis project to generate a louver system based on functional requirements within the building. The performance was then tested in Ecotect. A large part of my thesis design involved invertible arena seating with many moving parts. Architecture In this tutorial you will learn how can you create shell-like surfaces made of planar hexagons using Kangaroo´s Planrization Forces. CHROMAtex.me is an installationby SOFTlab for the bridgegallery ,the project was funded by offering a small ownership of the installation in exchange for a small donation. Continuing with the experimentation and research of the honeycomb morphologies and as a example for a Workshop I gave recently I . . .

Template:Grasshopper Data Tree editing Introduction Data Tree Grasshopper uses, in contrast to a programming environment, no object names to define an object. This may sound trivial but it one of the most fundamental differences from a traditional modelling environment. In Grasshopper the object or objects are placed in a list.
