National Parks: More Fun, Less Money If our Nation’s parks are some of the most beautiful places in the entire world – how come attendance to national parks dropped over four million visitors from 09′ to 10′? Some people blame the weather, but I think people don’t appreciate parks as much in a bad economy as they should. Which one of you all like to sit on the edge of the Grand Canyon for a few days? Although camping is one of the greatest leisure activities, it can get rough. I hope this infographic will bring more people to the parks at a State and National level. Science Vocabulary The comprehensive grade-by-grade science vocabulary lists below are based on state and national science standards. They cover the key science content areas for each grade from kindergarten through high school. The lists can be used with all twenty of VocabularySpellingCity's learning activities. For each grade and science content area, there are both detailed lists and summary lists. For example, in the kindergarten science section, motion is one of the key areas. The sentences and definitions of the words on these lists are written for use in science. The writing and editing of these lists, sentences, and definitions was performed under contract by science teachers and curriculum specialists from around the country to whom we are very grateful. The lists can be imported into teacher or parent accounts. The science word lists and learning activities of VocabularySpellingCity can be integrated within a science curriculum in a number of ways.

Super Magnets: All About Rare Earth Metals A few years ago my brother got me Buckyballs from woot; a few years later I finally put them down. These things are the most addicting toy your adult self will ever experience. Sometimes you’ll use them to pin the electricity bill on the fridge. Playing with these magnets make you feel like a magician. When I was in fifth grade I had a project where I was assigned an element from the periodic table: neodymium. Seven Layer Density Column at Steve Spangler Science Measure 8 ounces of each type of liquid into the 9 ounce portion cups. You may want to color each of the liquids to make a more dramatic effect in your column. Light Karo syrup is easier to color than dark syrup. The only liquids that you may not be able to color are the vegetable oil and the honey. Start your column by pouring the honey into the cylinder. The same amount of two different liquids will have different weights because they have different masses. To test this, you might want to set up a scale and measure each of the liquids that you poured into your column. ** NOTE: The numbers in the table are based on data from manufacturers for each item. The table shows the densities of the liquids used in the column as well as other common liquids (measured in g/cm3 or g/mL). Density is basically how much "stuff" is smashed into a particular area... or a comparison between an object's mass and volume. Have you found a way to make more than seven layers in your column?
