Here are some pics of branches (very winter inspired) and the second has yellow flowers too. I think having a winter theme/ feel just means having a warm feeling, so going with a lot of candles and dimmer lighting will help give the feel of winter. Pinterest Inspired DIY Projects OK, So I have completed two DIY projects on my list so far... The first one is this organizer. Since I am getting rid of my teacher desk monstrosity, and moving to a table, I need a place to put all the stuff that was in my drawers. So... I could not get the pics to come out well. I made a template on Power Point using some scrapbook paper that I scanned. Click on the picture above to get a copy of the file. My second project was to create the signs for this door I saw on Pinterest. So here is what I came up with... The cards ready to be cut out, laminated and adhered to my door for the first day of school. Click on the image to download the PDF file. Also, I am working on Learning Objectives backgrounds to go inside dollar store frames for this project (also found on Pinterest)... So far, I have completed the Western Theme, Seuss Theme, and Buzzy Friends Theme, and Camping Theme. Click on each image to get the PDF file. So what have you been up to this weekend?

DIY Lace Earrings Dolce & Gabbana‘s Spring ’11 collection undoubtedly furthered our already fanatical obsession with lace. Honestly, how dreamy is the collection?! We thought we’d make good use of some vintage lace trim we had laying around and turn them into earrings similar to the ones we saw on the runway. And thanks to some tips from a DIY previously featured on Poppytalk, making lace earrings proved be a cinch! Mix equal parts glue to water in a bowl. Submerge the cut shapes into the glue mixture. I haven’t stopped wearing mine since and can’t wait to make more. (top image from Vogue.com, rest of images by Honestly…WTF)

how to create fake calligraphy I have always loved beautiful calligraphy. Years ago, my former boss brought me back a calligraphy pen and ink from her trip to Italy. I was so excited to try it out and figured it would be super easy to turn my handwriting into calligraphy with just the flick of a nib {that’s the technical term for the metal pieces that go in the pens – not to be confused with my go-to treat, the twizzler nib}. It didn’t go so well. Then I met Lindsay {of Lindsay Letters – who created that fabulous O Holy Night print } and figured since she is a pro, she could surely give some pointers and it wouldn’t be too hard. Again, the pen and ink proved too complicated for my impatient hands {have you ever tried it? I have yet to learn how to use a real calligraphy pen {although it is on my list of skills to master someday} and have just stuck with my fake calligraphy technique. First, choose a good fine tip ink pen. Now, write your letter. See how easy it is? Here’s another example. then filled in the down strokes:

DIY For Divas - Lace Collar ~ A Little Bird Told Me When it comes to DIY, I'm a bit of a diva - I'd rather pay someone to do the hard work than pick up the pinking shears myself. My personal combination of impatience and perfectionism means I reach for my debit card more often than my needle and thread. Why bother doing it yourself if you can get it down Topshop for a small (okay, moderate) fee? I wasn't always so A List about crafting - in 2005, I set up a jewellery business called pinkplectrum. Throughout my time at university (I did a media degree... go figure), I made vintage-style jewels and sold them through MySpace. It was a pretty booming business and for a while, I shared the market with the ladies behind ElsieBelle and Eclectic Eccentricity. These cute cards are available to pick up in Oxfam stores and feature a range of craft projects, each with an official button rating for difficulty (love that!). First, I chopped the collar off the shirt and neatened the edges with sharp scissors. And that's it!

Printing Personalized Post-It Note Messages Several months ago I discovered the surprising (to me!) fact that you can actually PRINT ON POST-IT NOTES using your own home printer. Recently I ran across a similar, but MUCH SIMPLER method for printing personalized messages on post-its, and I couldn’t wait to try (and share) the idea again. Kelly at Studio DIY used this method to print out a cute “Happy Anniversary” greeting. Unfortunately I found this the DAY AFTER my anniversary. :-) But the idea could be used in SO many other ways! How about an “inspirational message of the week” for the refrigerator? Kind of fun huh? Here’s the simple “How-to”: Open any program on your computer that you can manipulate text with. Now put the paper with the post-it notes on it back into your printer and re-print the exact same page again. Now you can just peel off your perfectly printed post-its and stick them wherever you feel like posting a unique, colorful, and removable message! Never miss a good thing!

Tutorials for Recycling T-Shirts So way way back, in June, I wrote this Studio Organization post, about starting the process of organizing my studio by cleaning out the closet full of junk. Well, it's September and...let's just say the closet is a work in progress. Some of the things that are taking up space in the closet are shirts that I never wear anymore. I realized I could repurpose them into something else! Here are some tutorials for recycling shirts: Check out these t-shirt scarves! Create cute little bows for accessories or packaging with this tutorial. Gorgeous ruffled pillow tutorial here. Looks like I have a lot of projects ahead of me to keep me from cleaning out my closet!

Fall is the time that I start looking through the piles of old sweaters. Do you have a big stash like I do? It’s time to give those old sweaters a new life. (Haha, whew, I didn’t realize how many there were until I started attaching the links. But today, the old (too short) angora wool sweater becomes a sling purse.. And I think that this sweater is much happier out in the cool fall air, rather than in my stuffy dark closet. Don’t you agree? It really is a great cozy little companion for any sort of outing. . And that’s it.

We got a square from my wedding dress to use for the fabric and then my mom hand stitched the text. I am planning on having my seamstress sew it into the inside of my dress for my something blue. Honeymoon T-shirts! Joe and I wanted matching t-shirts for the HM...yep we are that couple :)...not as bad as having a set for each day but we decided on making two pairs total. The first pair are black t-shirts that have iron on letters on them. The second pair is white and I made them with iron on transfers I bought at Joann that you can print out from your computer. Here are pics of both pairs! Front Back Popcon Salt Shakers I have officially gone overboard on my DIY projects :) but I really wanted to do these so I went for it anyway.
