Der Herr der Ringe - Die zwei Türme (2002) Greatest Film Directors of All Time Greatest Film Directors of All-Time: These honored selections are designed as a tribute to some of the greatest directors of predominantly English-language films, with suggested or recommended Best Films or 'Must-See' Films from their filmographies. Unfortunately, some of these directors have been pushed aside to make way for more recent works, but it should be noted that many of these film-makers were highly innovative mavericks and renegades who challenged the established 'system' that existed during their time. These choices are meant to encourage discussion and comparison, and to educate filmgoers about some of film history's most legendary and influential forces in film-making. The premise of honoring these film directors is based upon the debatable auteur theory -- the idea that the director is the primary 'author' or voice of a movie, and through a director's film, we see one person's way of viewing the world -- one that has the potential to change the way we see the world.

Catch Me If You Can (2002 The Grapes of Wrath (1940 Schindler's List (1993 Forrest Gump (1994) La dolce vita (1960) One-Eyed Monster (2008 The Ox-Bow Incident (1943 12 Angry Men (1957 Sieben (1995) The Searchers (1956 La Jetée La Jetée (French pronunciation: [la ʒəte, ʒte], "The Jetty") is a 1962 French science fiction featurette by Chris Marker. Constructed almost entirely from still photos, it tells the story of a post-nuclear war experiment in time travel. It's 28 mins long, black and white. The 1995 science fiction film 12 Monkeys was inspired by, and borrows several concepts directly from, La Jetée. Plot[edit] "The Man", portrayed by Davos Hanich. A man (Davos Hanich) is a prisoner in the aftermath of the Third World War, in a destroyed, post-apocalyptic Paris where survivors live underground in the Palais de Chaillot galleries. After several attempts, he reaches the pre-war period. Upon his return, with his mission accomplished, he discerns that he is to be executed by his jailers.
