i heart photographdesign:related galleryArt might - just artMichael Coulson: OriginsOrigins is a proposal originally planned for a multi-media event to commemorate the publication Charles Darwin's new theory on evolution, On the Origin of Species. The poroposal includes a one-hour film, an exhibition, book and website. Michael Coulson is collaborating with author/artist Charlotte Cory on this new venture. It is a strange fact of history that at the same time (in exactly the same year, 1859) that Charles Darwin published his On the Origin of Species, the craze for photographic portraits as calling cards “Cartomania” took off. Charlotte Cory’s latest book, "The Visitors", published by Dewi Books 2007 talks about how the first generation of people to be photographed were also the first generation of people to realize that they were closely related to animals. Charlotte Cory’s exhibition of photomontages of animal/human hybrids from her book The Visitors debuted at Photo Paris in 2006 and was shown in an exhibition at the Rebecca Hossack Gallery in London in 2007.
