Learning Movable Type: Yearly Archives Movable Type is set up for doing date-based archives by day, week, and month, but not by year. There are a few plugins and methods out there that will help you create a yearly calendar of your archives, for example, Brad Choate's Year Archives in MT Perl script plugin will produce a calendar archive (example). Lummox JR's ArchiveYear plugin will produce a similar calendar (example). I prefer a yearly archive to show a list of entries by month, as I've set up on one of my blogs (example).

Fan Ho In the past few years, Fan Ho revisited negatives from the Hong Kong era that were never printed. By physically holding up two negatives up to the light, Fan Ho would play with composition. Once he created something that pleased him, he would place the sandwiched negatives on the scanner and montage them. When those pesky emails began piling up in photojournalist Cristina De Middel's inbox, she did something that most would consider unthinkable — she read them. What she found were some incredible stories of open heart surgeries, a young girl asking for her hand in marriage and an African attorney looking to share some of his funds. Each story — fabricated or not — demanded her attention and seemed engineered to make her feel somehow special. De Middel's photo series, "Poly-Spam," ran with this sentiment. She explained in her artist statement: "Poly-Spam aims to build the robotic portrait of the senders, taking every single detail specified and translating it into images with special care in the dramatic ambient of the specific moment in which the mail was sent."

The Return of The Decisive Moment Within the canon of European photography books it would be difficult to find one more famous, revered and influential as Henri Cartier-Bresson’s Images a la Sauvette or, as the American edition is titled, The Decisive Moment. Upon its release in French and American editions in 1952, Cartier-Bresson received personal letters affirming its brilliance from the likes of Jean Cocteau, Alexey Brodovitch, Carmel Snow (then editor of Harper’s Bazaar), and Joan Miro. The French edition publisher Stratis Eleftheriadis (known simply as Tériade) claimed it was “one of the most satisfying books that [he] had had the pleasure of making.” Its value as an out-of-print collectable has risen over the past few decades resulting in keeping this masterpiece out of the hands of many younger photographers.
