Bohemian Updo

Chic Updo Have we all seen this photo? I see it all the time from brides, bridesmaids, or any other client going to a formal event. It's beautiful. So I used that as a little inspiration for a easy updo tutorial! The Chic Updo (Cream t-shirt is from Target) *What you won't see in the video tutorial is the finish with hairspray. This may be a little bit more complicated than some my other tutorials. You'll see photos of a cleaner updo and one that I messed up a little bit by rubbing my fingers over it. (Yellow Dress is from Macy's So make sure you go somewhere fancy and show off your new 'do! ...love Maegan: No Heat SJP BIG CURLS w/ Twisted Buns ...also known as Bantu Knots | A Lifestyle Blog + Fashion + Beauty + DIY If you follow me on Instagram you already know about this because I shared it there see photos below but the other night I slept on twisted buns to get these BIG CURLS just to switch it up a little which the husband LOVES. In fact he said “You know, you could do that MORE OFTEN if you wanted to”. Big curls are a BIG hit around here In 2009 I did a quick video demonstrating how I twist my hair into the little buns whilst singing to Lady Gaga – but I only did a photo tutorial of how to get the finished look. So the other morning before I left for the gallery I filmed it for you and hopefully answered all the questions I’ve gotten about this easy little tutorial. Enjoy… The first and last photos were taken at around 5:30pm in the afternoon so you can see how the curls fall a little and become big waves, though my hair doesn’t get any smaller. * CLICK HERE for outfit photos and details. ...love Maegan: ~ Hair To's ~ Big Curls with Tiny Buns | A Lifestyle Blog + Fashion + Beauty + DIY This morning . . . after sleeping on the little spiral buns Remove pins and let spirals un-twirl . .. .make sure they are fully dry …you can use a hair dryer a bit but it’s better to do it before unravelling buns. …I don’t mind a little frizzzzzzz … Use your fingers to separate waves …do not brush out. I made the top section a little larger/thicker so the curl wasn’t as tight which sort of lays over the rest. . . .The smaller sections and more twisted spiral buns you do all over your head, the curlier it turns out. Use a small barrel curling iron {in this fashion} on stray pieces. Watch this very old video of me creating my bantu knots… You would think that …uh, I dunno, I’d put on some make-up and maybe . … uhhh, something cute ..at least a bra – before I did one of these …lol. * Find my a video tutorial removing the buns and styling the curls here.

...love Maegan:: Partial French Braid with Cascading Hair I’m not the originator of this hair style but I’ve gotten so many requests for it, I thought I’d give it a go for you. I don’t know what it’s called either so I haven’t researched it and/or found any other tutorials for it …thus, this is my version of it, and I’ve dubbed it the Partial French Braid w/ Cascading Hair. The photos I’ve seen online show the braid a little more straight across the back of the head and mine sort of braids at an angle, similar to my side/low french braid up-do. I’m sure this is 100% easier to do on someone else’s hair than your own but it goes pretty quickly once you get the hang of it …I mean, it’s my shortest hair video tutorial to date. Enjoy. Note: Apologies in advance for the yelling of “NOOOO” towards the end, where I momentarily fear I’m going to lose my entire braid and have to start over. Have Fun! Find all my Hair Tutorials Here.

Extra Petite | Petite Fashion, Style Tips and DIY Per your requests, here's a tutorial for the voluminous bun I've been turning to lately (to conceal unwashed hair). In this video I share my secrets for extra volume both at the crown of my head and in the bun itself.Tools used: 1. Velcro bumpit (search for "velcro bump" on eBay. Shipping took a few weeks.) 2. For anyone who doesn't know what a flat head means...allow the photos below to explain! A flat head makes one (or me, at least) look very childish. The Beauty Department: Your Daily Dose of Pretty. Our email box is literally flooded with requests for updos so here’s a fun one to get us all going! This is always a favorite for attending an event. This updo looks gorgeous on any hair color but particularly amazing with hilighted hair because it gives the hair lots of depth and dimension. For lack of a better word, I love the way it becomes “swirly”. Best thing is; it’s easy to do, gorgeous and keeps your hair out of your way for the night. Tools you’ll need: curling iron (to prep the hair with waves), sectioning clips, teasing comb or brush, clear elastic rubber band, bobby pins, light to medium holding hairspray (to mist over at the end).
