Whiteout Cocoa This post will be short and sweet since I'm going out of town for a few days, but I couldn't let another day pass without sharing this recipe! This is an absolutely delicious white chocolate cocoa, and it couldn't be easier to make. The original recipe uses full-fat ingredients, but I've lightened it up a bit. So feel free to go crazy with copious amounts of whipped cream or even giant oven-toasted marshmallows. I won't tell.Whiteout Cocoa 8-10 servings [click for printable version] 6 cups skim milk 2 cups fat-free half and half 12 oz. package white chocolate chips (I used Ghiradelli) 1 tablespoon vanilla Whipped cream and nonpareils for topping 1. 2. Baked Eggs with Bacon and Spinach Do y’all remember the scene in Runaway Bride (that’s an Oscar contender if I’ve ever seen one…) where Julia Roberts realizes that she doesn’t know how she likes her eggs? You know, because she’s always turning herself into the girl that the guy she’s marrying wants to be with? Yeah. That’s not me. I know how I like my eggs, although I will say that it depends on the day. Hey, I’m an independent woman…throw your hands up at me. Now that we’ve established my egg-eating habits, though, I have to say – baked eggs are kind of amazing, an unexpected new love in my egg-eating life. Serves 2, but this can be split in half easily to make them in small individual ramekins. 4 whole eggs3-4 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and chopped1/2 cup loosely packed spinach2 Tbsp cream2 Tbsp butter, meltedsalt and pepper to taste1/4 tsp thyme Preheat oven to 375. So now it’s your turn – egg fan?

Out of the Campfire, into the Oven: S'mores Pie There is just something about a s’more that brings out the kid in me. The toasted marshmallow, the melted chocolate, the crunch of the graham cracker. You put them together and it’s bliss. You could even take more shortcuts and use a pre-made graham cracker crust and use pre-packaged pudding {you’d need 8 snack packs for that} What you’ll need: 1 sleeve of honey graham crackers – 9 crackers 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/3 cup dark brown sugar pinch salt 7 tablespoons unsalted butter – melted 1 large package of chocolate pudding {+ ingredients to make} 8 ounces whipped cream topping 10 ounces marshmallows What to do: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 20 Summer Smoothie Recipes20 Salads Hearty Enough for Tonight’s Dinner25 of the Healthiest Foods for Under $12 Minute Chocolate Salted Caramel Mug Cake10 Tasty Mug Cakes That You Can Make in Just Minutes

Bacon-wrapped Jalapeno Chicken Bites 610K+Add bacon to anything and it will fly off the table. That’s what a caterer once told me and I believe it. Certainly applies here. Whether you’re planning a cookout this weekend or cooking indoors (rain predicted here in Texas), grill up a few of these sizzling treats for a quick appetizer or serve as an entree. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than with a big plate of these spicy and cheesy, smoky and crispy chicken nuggets. If you don’t like hot, leave out the jalapenos or skimp a bit. How to Make Crêpes Without a Crêperie | Food for My Family - StumbleUpon A brief tutorial on how to make crêpes at home, no crêperie required. Just you, your stove and a bit of batter and you’ll have a plate full of thin pancakes in no time at all. I’ve always wanted to live abroad, even if just for a short time. While the dream of leaving and exploring was there, the reality was and is that I remain fully rooted in the Midwest. In college I was a single parent. In order to declare my Spanish major, I had to get the mandatory study abroad waived. To the eggs and milk, add in flour, melted butter and a bit of salt. When it’s time to cook, heat a pan with rounded edges over medium-high heat. Cook the crêpe for 30 seconds or so. Slide the crêpes into a flat pile and let them cool a bit while you repeat the process and make more crêpes. And that’s it. If you’re wondering, no, I still have not been to France, nor have I ventured to Australia. Copyright © Food for My Family.

Chocolate Stout Cake-Best Chocolate Cake-Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Posted by Grace Massa Langlois on Friday, 17th September 2010 I’ve baked many chocolate cakes, but this time I was about to do something I’d never done before. I was going to make a chocolate cake with beer. And I don’t even like beer! But I was determined to give it a try so off to the liquor store I went. I assumed I’d walk in, show the clerk the recipe and he would point me directly to my special ingredient. I didn’t realize there would be so many different types of Stout. I was more than curious about the taste and although I am not a lover of beer I do believe it’s important to understand the flavour profile of any ingredient you are using. I found this recipe from Donna Hay and as usual Donna’s recipe instructions were straightforward and very easy to follow. The aroma of chocolate and beer wafting through the house was amazing. But the best was still yet to come. (from Donna Hay Magazine – 50th Issue Birthday) Serves 6 to 8 Comments (22) Leave a Reply

Pie Pops Alber Elbaz speaks about “lightness” during interviews before his collections. I think his summation of what women need seems pretty accurate. Yes, we need lightness/ease/mobility. I love the way Elbaz makes clothes. His Lanvin spring 2008 collection made me cry. I like lightness. The different flavors. Cinnamon, Sugar, cornstarch, these three were the main ingredients used to hype the filling. I made blackberry filling with just sugar and cornstarch. I label all my homemade jams and fillings. With the same lolipop stick, I’ve sealed the pie, making indents all around the pop. Very crucial to slather egg whites on pie exterior. Blackberry Apple. Pumpkin Pies to go. In case you’re into saving desserts, this is fridge friendly too. <a onclick="javascript:pageTracker.

Caramel Tart-Caramel Tarts-Chocolate Tart-Chocolate Tarts-Pasta Frolla Posted by Grace Massa Langlois on Friday, 8th July 2011 When I finally decided on Lemon Meringue Tarts for the holiday weekend I knew I would have to offer another choice because not everyone in my family is a fan of citrus desserts. It didn’t take me too long to decide on the other option because everyone in my family loves chocolate. I decided immediately to pair the chocolate with luscious caramel. I also wanted to add a few different textures and flavours. I present to you pure indulgence, Chocolate-Caramel Tart – crispy, hazelnut sweet short pastry with four layers of goodness – caramel, toasted hazelnuts, dark and milk chocolate ganache, and milk chocolate glaze. I could have stopped with the dark and milk chocolate ganache layer but the chocolate lover in me took over. Wow! The classical pairing of chocolate and caramel is one of my favourites but adding toasted nuts brings any dessert to another level for me. I wish the kids enjoyed the pairing as much as I do. Cinnamon Bun Pancakes Are you a cinnamon lover? You are going to love me. LOVE me, I tell ya! Why? Because I’m going to be sharing something scrumptious, something EASY to make, something you and your kids will LOVE, and something that will add about ten pounds to your hips. The players: Griddle or Frying Pan – preheat to medium/low heat and grease with butter, margarine, or that nasty spray (which I used, by the way). When these dry ingredients are mixed nicely, then you can mix together these remaining ingredients in a SEPARATE bowl. 2 eggs (whole) beaten – feel free to take out your frustration on these innocent little eggies 1 Cup of milk (or a little more if your batter isn’t runny enough for you) 1/4 Cup butter or margarine, melted 1 Tbsp vanilla The How-To:

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Peanut Butter Cups Soooooo… you know that episode of Sex and the City where Miranda has to dump dish soap on top of chocolate cake just so she will stop eating it?? Uh. Yeeeeeah. These are like… of that caliber. And that totally almost happened to me. I ate what felt like a million, then had a plate of 5-day old green bean fries from the fridge and called it lunch. I definitely recommend those. For lunch. Face? Inhale. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Peanut Butter Cups [cookie dough adapted from cookie dough dip] makes 24 cups 2 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter 3/4 cup powdered sugar 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips In a small saucepan, heat butter until melted.
