Writing Photo Captions and Cutlines Photo captions and cutlines are the most read body type in a publication. Of all the news content, only the titles of stories or headlines have higher readership than captions. It follows that standards of accuracy, clarity, completeness and good writing are as high for captions and cutlines than for other type. Note: Captions and cutlines are terms that are often used interchangeably, particularly at magazines. Captions: Captions are the little “headlines” over the “cutlines” (the words describing the photograph). Cutlines: Cutlines (at newspapers and some magazines) are the words (under the caption, if there is one) describing the photograph or illustration. Note: Not all photographs carry a caption line. Reader behavior Required information The specific information required can vary from one photo to the next. Tips and terms: Be concise; be precise; don't be trite Cutlines should be as concise as possible, but they should not sound like telegrams or machine guns. Don't editorialize.
Scribus 1.4 : logiciel libre de PAO en évolution majeure Le logiciel libre de PAO Scribus vient de sortir en version 1.4. Cette application de Publication Assistée par Ordinateur a subi un lifting en profondeur avec de nombreux correctifs et améliorations qui apporte une stabilité renforcée des fonctionnalités. Le logiciel libre de PAO Scribus fonctionne sous GNU/Linux, MacOS et Windows. Scribus 1.4 se distingue par de nouveaux filtres d’importation traitant notamment les fichiers Adobe Illustrator EPS et PDF, Adobe Photoshop, Macintosh Picture PICT, Windows Metafile WMF… La fonction refaire/défaire est améliorée en étant portée sur l’intégralité des actions relative aux textes. Le gestionnaire d’images a été réécrit ce qui signifie concrètement en aval l’ajout de nouveaux filtres, des changements de taille mieux définis, la prise en charge des informations EXIF photographiques et la possibilité d’utiliser des fichiers en .bmp. Edu-portfolio.org : Your electronic portfolio The Dutch CEF Grid Reading / Listening About the grid The Dutch CEFR Construct GRID allows test developers to analyse tests of Reading and Listening, in order to relate them to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Information about each task, text and item in the test is entered into the GRID by specifying their characteristics (e.g. text source, discourse type, estimated difficulty level, etc) from a range of options derived from the CEFR. The analyst must, however, be fully familiar with the CEFR in order to use the GRID effectively. For further guidance see familiarising yourself with the CEFR. Acknowledgements This instrument has evolved during the Dutch CEFR Construct Project, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education. Créer des récits avec des images fixes sonorisées Narrable est une application Web qui permet de créer des présentaitons en ligne à base d'images fixes et d'enregistrements sonores. Avant toute chose, vous devrez penser votre récit à tête reposée, hors de l'application. Combien d'images souhaitez-vous commenter ? Dans quel ordre ? Lorsque tout ceci sera au point et que vous aurez rassemblé vos illustrations, vous vous rendrez sur le site et vous inscrirez gratuitement. Une fois que le titre et la page couverture sont choisis, le véritable travail commence. Lorsque la préparation du récit est terminée, vous pourrez le partager surles réseaux sociaux (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest) ou l'intégrer à un site tiers. L'inscription au site donne immédiatement accès au compte gratuit qui est fonctionnel, mais comprend bien sûr des limites : on ne peut que créer 5 récits en tout.
