Hi my sweet bloggie friends!!! Tutorials for Recycling Books We rode bikes around our neighborhood this weekend and stopped at all the garage sales we found along the way. I love doing this because it's like exercise and shopping in one! Plus, my bike basket is perfect for holding whatever treasures I find. On this particular trip I was noticing a lot of old books for sale. My DIY craving kicked in and I knew I had to do some research on the projects I could use old books for.

inked denim shorts Pair of shorts I bought last week from Forever21 ($13.50) Pics taken on layover in Denver, CO while 100 degrees outside….seriously!! I would consider getting a tattoo only if there was a special ink that would fade after about a year. I’m too fickle for anything permanent on my body, and I guarantee after 2 months (or less) I’d have major regret. However, that’s not my point. What you’ll need: Tape (I used painter’s tape) Cardboard or newspaper (to place underneath the denim surface you’re painting on)Multi-surface acrylic paintGolden GAC900 (turns regular acrylic paint into washable fabric paint)Paint brushes Old pillowcase or muslin fabrican Iron Optional items: X-acto knife (I used this to make the tape narrower in some places for my design to avoid buying varied widths of painter’s tape) Instructions: 1. **Side notes: I started to use a spray fabric paint (hence the newspaper and plastic in the photo) but the can I bought didn’t spray correctly.

1. 3. 5. lollies - a little ART CANT HURT a perfect rainy day thing to do! the colors make any day better! how to make LOLLIESyou will need: jolly ranchers, candy sticks, parchment paper, foil & a cookie sheet 1) lay a piece of foil on cookie sheet. cover foil with a piece of parchment paper.2) unwrap candies and place side by side on parchment paper in your choice of color & flavor combinations. use three candies together for extra large lollies, and only two candies together for regular lollies.3) heat candies in oven for about 5 minutes at 200 degrees. keep a close eye on the candies and take them out as soon as they've barely melted together. if you leave them in too long they will melt too much and you won't be able to put a stick into the lollie. alter the cook time accordingly.4) carefully take cookie sheet out of oven. immediately lay candy sticks into place on melted candies. slowly twirl in melted candy to coat the stick and so it will hold in the lollie. they're hot!

Fabric Transfer DIY I recently posted a couple of old pictures that my dad took and I really wanted to integrate them into a new project. So I used one picture to try out a fabric transfer project using Gel medium. The picture is of my mom and I wanted to capture the vintage feel of the picture, so I decided to transfer it to the back of a denim shirt. Here's how: Supplies: Shirt/piece of fabric, laser printed image, Gel Medium 1. 2. 3. 4. The image transfer probably won't come out as perfect as the original image, but I think that it suits the style and makes it look more unique. All done!

CRAFTS | Oversized Pinwheels - Design Editor Have you ever made a pinwheel? I can't believe it took me 38 years to try it. So easy! I made this oversized, decorative version to dress up my girls' Easter baskets. Decorative meaning they don't spin. Oversized because I used 12x 12 double-sided scrapbook paper. Fold in half diagonally to make a triangle. I'm thinking of a wall scattered with a variety of big, patterned pinwheels would be insanely cute.

DIY elbow patches I’ve got this pinboard called “Someday Crafts,” and it’s purpose is just that: to remind me of all the DIY stuff I want to do. I pinned this felted elbow patch tutorial from HonestlyWTF a while ago, and I finally got to try it out! Last weekend, my friend Nat and I had a craft date and spent an afternoon making the elbow patches. Nat’s boyfriend, the veteran needle felter in the room, gave us some pointers, since it was our first time. We had bought the wool and needles online, and brought our own sweaters. This was my first time working with wool roving. DIY felted elbow patchesMaterials -a sweater or sweatshirt to felt onto -wool roving (we bought ours online here) -a 36 gauge felting needle (bought these online, here) -a piece of dense foam to felt onto -a heart shaped cookie cutters (or any other shape) -an iron Steps one Put your sweater on, and have a friend tape off the area above and below your elbow. two three Cut a piece of wool roving and spread it into your cookie cutter. four

YARN BRACELET DIY! See the updated version of this project here! This was one of my favorite crafts to make because it is really relaxing just like knitting and crocheting! This is just like making one of those paracord bracelets, except with yarn. I got some neato small yarn just for making these! These are straight, but you don't need an expert to tell you that making them into a bracelet is as easy as knotting the two ends together (which is what you do..). Ok so now take your 3ft., 2ft., and other 2ft. strand and lay them out. Put your knotted strand under the 3ft. strand. After about 5 or 6 repeats you can start to see the pattern! Once you start to repeat you should start to see the "V" that is created every two repeats. Ok guys hope you liked this as much as I do! Ty

Soap Making Instructions | Soap Making Recipes and Tutorials | Teach Soap - StumbleUpon Bracelets, once more... I don't know how your week has been, but mine was weird. And short. Flat tire on Tuesday, right when we were supposed to head off to gymnastics. Had to go by bus which we missed, so we had to wait and hence M. was late. Wednesday, I had to get the tire fixed besides everything else on a usual Wednesday . Anyway, yesterday while I was still thinking about bracelets for the upcoming school event, I came up with this twisted rope/embroidery floss bracelet. In the meantime here's a short how-to for the bracelets. All you need is embroidery floss, hemp rope, a pencil for twisting, and something to hold the rope while twisting (I used a piece of wood with a nail, a ring binder will work equally well). 1. 2. 3. Make a bunch to cover wrists, ankles,... Well, it's not my best idea ever, but at least I have the feeling I did something creative this week! Wishing you a nice weekend!
