Burr Puzzle Stool Is A Puzzle To Sit On I saw these stools on Designboom and I’m totally obsessed with them because they basically look like a squiggly mess and I want to sit in them to find out how you sit in them! Designed by Chinese designers You-De Chen and Chin-Hua Lin, the stools use an adaptation of the Chinese mortise and tenon technique that’s been used with wood for over 7,000 years. According to the designers, “the main principle of a ‘burr puzzle’ is assembling wood pieces in specific order and limiting each of the pieces movement only by the notches of the wood, which eventually creates a firm and solid connection.”

Quiet Motion Installation by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec Designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec created a carousel-like installation of rotating platforms in a monastery in Milan. Quiet Motion, presented during this year’s Salone del Mobile as part of a partnership with electric car brand BMW i, consists of four round platforms that slowly rotate around in a silent, mesmerizing fashion. Following the presentation, Juriaan Booij shot a film of the installation in action. Watch it here: Much like a miniature carousel, the covered spinning platforms have strips of blue fabric hanging from the edges that gently flutter about as it rotates. Baitogogo by Henrique Oliveira for Palais de Tokyo A twisted entanglement of tree branches appears to grow organically from the beams of Paris' Palais de Tokyo museum in this installation by Brazilian artist Henrique Oliveira (+ slideshow). Designed by Henrique Oliveira to look like an impossibly tangled Gordian Knot, the Baitogogo sculpture is installed within an exhibition space at Palais de Tokyo as a mass of tree-like plywood branches. "Creating a spectacular and invasive Gordian Knot, Henrique Oliveira plays with Palais de Tokyo’s architecture, allowing a work that combines the vegetal and the organic," said the exhibition curators. An existing grid of columns and beams appears to morph into the twisted branches. "Through a form of architectural anthropomorphism, Henrique Oliveira reveals the structure of the building," added the curators. The large installation was created from reclaimed tapumes - a plywood material traditionally used in Brazilian towns to construct the hoardings around construction sites.

Accueil Dear Google+: Marketers Hate You (Want to Know Why?) Generally, marketers love social media. We tweet with the best of them. Our LinkedIn networks put non-marketers’ networks to shame. In an informal poll of marketers, MarketingProfs asked about social media preferences. Most confusing and least favorite? Here are their thoughts regarding Google+. Why Most Marketers Hate Google+ "It's basically a mashup of Facebook and Pinterest. "When I sign up for other social networks, it feels like I'm walking through a door on my own. "I don't like circles and the term feels like I'm back in high school." "They need to open API to personal pages; also, [it] takes multiple clicks to get to the professional pages." "The giant F-Up on their part was getting marketers on board with G+, then enabling those same marketers to create a G+ account through Google Apps. be cleanly merged and the process of importing all of my Circles and other data over to a business account took FAR too long for them to figure out. Why a Few Marketers Don't Hate Google+

Four Reasons Marketers Need to Embrace Google+ In an informal MarketingProfs poll, marketers cited Google+ as their most hated social network. Reasons given, both in the poll and the subsequent comments, mentioned things like convenience (or lack thereof), complexity (huge learning curve, not enough time), and my favorite, "my target audience isn't there." Lack of convenience, I can understand. Google's API is limited at this time, so it may not be fully integrated into the tools marketers use to manage their other social presences. Complexity, I can appreciate. Google+ offers a broader feature set than other social networks. But "my target audience isn't there" is a lousy excuse not to spend at least a little time integrating Google+ into your marketing mix. Here's the thing, marketers: "Google+ is Google itself," according to Bradley Horowitz, VP products for Google+. Let's explore that further. 1. Ask your SEO team for the keywords you are supposed to be targeting, and include them in a very simple public share of your blog posts.

Are You Losing Sales By Giving Customers Too Many Choices? Did you know that giving customers too many choices can overwhelm and lead to fewer sales? It’s true. I experienced this firsthand at an eye-catching gelato shop located in Santa Monica, California. It caught my eye because of the insane number of flavors visible through the outside window. There were over 100 in all. But then it happened. As I viewed the 100 plus favors, I couldn’t decide which ones to try. I was overwhelmed, so I decided to leave. What happened? Actually, no, and here’s a university study that shows why. The Famous Marketing Study About Too Many Choices Here’s how the study worked: Sheena Iyengar from Columbia University set up a table laden with jams outside of an upscale grocery store in Menlo Park, CA. Prior to this study, the common marketing theory was that more choices are better for customers. The results from this study proved otherwise. Of the customers who sampled 24 flavors, only 3% purchased, but of the customers who sampled 6, 30% did the same. How do they do it?
