Sixty Years Of Memories For my dad's 60th birthday last week, I wanted to do something really fun. My dad and I talk a lot about the past---nostalgia runs in our blood, I think---and we both love to reminisce. Inspired by Jordan Ferney's Postcard Birthday Poster, I started batting around an idea: what if I could get everyone from my dad's past to contribute a memory they had of him? What if I had all those people send their memories to me, and then I put each one into an envelope---sixty total, of course---and had him open them, one by one, on his birthday? That would be a lot of memories, right? So I wrote an email. Hello everyone! If you're receiving this email, you probably know that our dad, Patrick Burns, is turning 60 next month (much as he would hate us to be reminding everyone, I'm sure.) And this is where you come in! If you have a spare moment in the next few days, we would be so grateful if you'd jot down a favorite memory you have of our dad and put it in the post. Thank you so much again.

And then I took it home and put it on my front porch like the classy broad that I am and took a picture of it to show you that it looked like this? Well, now it looks like this: Yay, gold! Now, I know quite a few of you told me to keep the wood intact and not paint it, and this is fully what I intended to do, I swear. Has potential, but could try harder. My original plan had been to leave all the wood parts wood and the chrome parts chrome, then paint the sides gold and the trays—formerly a weird plasticky wood veneer—a bright white.
{Soap Box Organizers} We are toy-organizing crazy around here, with bins, tubs, boxes, labels...you name it. Organizing simply makes me swoooooooon! All is right with my world when things are organized. There are always a few things though that don't seem to fit into the places you want them to go for one reason or another. Enter: the Plastic Travel Soap Dish Walmart, $1 store, etc....CHEAP. I got interested in soap boxes many years ago when I was a Kindergarten teacher. (16 crayons...and more will fit if you like.) As a Mommy, you also know that crayons can be an essential part of waiting rooms, grocery stores, or the BMV. :) I've made a Crayon Roll-Up to suit those needs for my own kiddo, but if I had 4 kids I'm not sure that would be time or cost-effective. So what I've discovered is that soap boxes are COOL! Our #1 use for a travel soap box at home is for playing cards: You know how the box never stays together for very long?
