We Met, We Married, We Live « DIY Theory Melissa and I snuck in not one, but TWO craft nights this month. (Catch up on the first photographic craft night here) I was loving a lot of the map pieces that were being pinned on pinterest, but one in particular caught my eye. Source I loved the idea and we decided to do a map project for craft night. I headed to AAA to grab some maps…As a side note, I have been a AAA member since I was 1 year old. My great grandma never wanted me to get stranded and since AAA covers whatever vehicle the card member might be in, it traveled in my diaper bag with me. Upon arriving at Melissa’s, I still wasn’t sure what I was going to do for sure so we decided to improvise. First up was “we met”. Yep, you’ll notice the center of that heart is the Ameristar Casino. Next up, I decided to give wedding bands a whirl. We were married in my home town, Sioux Falls, SD. After I had my map parts, I needed to figure out the perfect way to display them. Tada! How about you? Also linked with the DIY Show-off.

DIY Decor Tie Dye Doily Collage Jaderbomb for iLoveToCreate I am always looking for a fun way to add Tie-Dye to my home decor. Let's get started because I am super pumped for you to make these! You will need: *Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit : (Red, Yellow & Blue) *Vintage Doilies or new ones *Craft Brushes *Picture Frames *Fishing string to hang them on fence *Lot's of LOVE The first thing you will do is fill up your bottles with water. When you get your pack of tie dye there will be a pamphlet in it showing you different techniques you can use. (Trust me it comes in handy, plus it's pretty to look at) Once you have your design complete in your head put the rubberbands that came with your package on your doily. I start off by getting an old platter that I am ok with getting dirty and stained. Don't forget to throw on the clear gloves that come with your tie-dye. I started by applying yellow first on one end. Don't forget you can create "other" colors by putting these colors together! Time to dry. P.S.

butcher paper spring wreath As you may know I love to celebrate the seasons with a unique hand crafted wreath and for spring I decided to create a fresh, all white wreath made completely from butcher paper. I always keep rolls of butcher paper on hand- it is one of the cheapest and most versatile supplies! I started by cutting large strips of butcher paper and scrunched it up. I then wrapped and glued it around a styrofoam wreath form. Next, I created paper flowers by cutting out circles Using hot glue (this makes it quick and easy) I layered the different circles on top of each other. I created the center detail of the flowers by crumbling up tiny pieces of paper. I glued the crumbled piece to the center of the flowers. I created all sorts of flowers in different sizes- enough to fill the wreath. I decided to create some little leaves for the wreath. Last, I glued all of the flowers and leaves to the surface of the wreath. And there you have it- a simple, cheap and pretty wreath perfect for spring!
