Incunabula Project blog In December 2013, Ed Potten and Laura Nuvoloni travelled to Japan, at the invitation of Keio University, to participate in the international conference Text and illustration in early books and manuscripts: A comparative study. The conference, held on 13 and 14 December, was organised by Professor Takami Matsuda and Dr Satoko Tokunaga of the EIRI Project, with the collaboration of Dr Mayumi Ikeda, Postdoctoral Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Keio University and Cambridge University have long had close ties. Cambridge’s copy of the Gutenberg Bible was the first to be digitized by the HUMI Project team in November 1998, led by Professor Toshiyuki Takamiya, himself a long-standing friend of Cambridge University Library and member of the Library’s Visiting Committee. There are many spin-offs of Sherlock Holmes, and some excellent ones from the early 20th century are Jean Ray’s Harry Dickson, le Sherlock Holmes Americain. Hired to translate the originals, Jean Ray, a noted French author, became tired of the stories and began writing new ones under the same series without signing them. Aubert, 1909. « En France, tout finit par des chansons » : un célèbre dicton qui illustre la place majeure tenue par la chanson dans la culture populaire française. Une importance qui se reflète dans les collections des divers départements de la BnF et sur Gallica. Dès les débuts de l’édition musicale au XVIème siècle paraissent des recueils de chansons polyphoniques, comme ceux de Pierre Attaignant, bientôt suivis par la vogue italienne des madrigaux. Dès que possible, la chanson fut également enregistrée, et on la retrouve en premier lieu dans les collections numérisées des Archives de la Parole, institution fondée en 1911 par le linguiste Ferdinand Brunot réunissant les compétences scientifiques de l’Université de Paris et celles, techniques, de la maison Pathé Frères. The Dog's Tooth The Dog's Tooth is the wiki of the Special Collections unit of Memorial University Libraries. The wiki title refers to the medieval practice of burnishing gold leaf illumination with a dog’s tooth. 1. Koran. L'association des professionnel-le-s du patrimoine écrit et graphique souhaite en profiter pour rappeler que les bibliothèques patrimoniales sont elles aussi souvent abritées dans des bâtiments historiques à la maintenance délicate, sinon parfois délaissée. Si nos livres paraissent ancrés pour l'éternité derrière des murs solides, l'incendie récent fait prendre au grand public conscience de la fragilité de ce patrimoine commun, conservé pour le pays entier, et dont les gardiennes et gardiens ne cessent d'alerter sur les nécessaires précautions à prendre pour assurer leur sécurité. Il convient d'insister également sur la nécessaire vigilance au quotidien de tous les membres des équipes des établissements, bibliothécaires, mais aussi agents de sécurité, d'entretien, personnels administratifs et techniques, dans les bâtiments et dans leurs alentours.
