Of course, the historically leading disciplines in this respect are philosophy and psychology, which were later joined by behavioral science, cognitive science and neuroscience. In addition, the physics of complex systems and quantum physics have played stimulating roles in the discussion from their beginnings. As regards the issue of complexity, this is quite evident: the brain is one of the most complex systems we know. The original motivation in the early 20th century for relating quantum theory to consciousness was essentially philosophical. Quantum theory introduced an element of randomness standing out against the previous deterministic worldview, in which randomness, if it occurred at all, simply indicated our ignorance of a more detailed description (as in statistical physics). 2. Using Regular Playing Cards Sarena's Tarot Many professional cartomancers use a regular deck of playing cards for divination. Regular decks have been used for this purpose since their original adaptation from the tarot type decks of before. Usually there are more cards used per spread than regular tarot cards. What follows is a (very) general guide to interpreting regular playing cards. You may still use reverse interpretation on regular playing cards if you mark the deck on the "top". Ace: Has to do with one's home or environment. King: Represents an influencial man, someone who has the power or ability to do something good for the querent. Queen: A trusted woman. Jack:A good friend to the querent, someone close, a cousin or confidant, someone they have known since childhood or for a long time. 10:A good card: means good luck, can counteract bad cards around it. 9:Harmony. 8:An event, a celebration, a party/bash..etc. 7:A card of disappointent. 6:Warning card. 4:The bachelor or old maid card. 6:A partnership card.

She didn't expect to fear for her life, either. But after she posted the names of Montana wolf hunters on her site, the threats began. On a single day in February 2010 the anti-wolf movement sent to her 3,000 messages. "Until that day I wasn't thinking about the hatred," Nabeki, a professional from California who moved to the Rockies 15 years ago, told me. Zen is Boring - isn't it? - Buddha's world Let's face it. Zen is boring. You couldn't find a duller, more tedious practice than Zazen. The philosophy is dry and unexciting. Joshu Sasaki, a Zen teacher from the Rinzai Sect, once said that Buddhist teachers always try to make students long for the Buddha World, but that if the students knew how really dry and tasteless the Buddha World actually was, they'd never want to go. Boredom is important. People hate their ordinary lives. Your life will change. People long for big thrills. You need a teacher like that. Boredom is what you need. Some years ago some psychologists did a study in which they sat some Buddhists monks and some regular folks in a room and wired them up to EEG machines to record their brain activity. If you really take a look at your ordinary boring life, you'll discover something truly wonderful. The life you're living right now has joys even God will never know.
The Libri of Aleister Crowley Aleister Crowley (Oct. 12, 1875–Dec. 1, 1947) – however one judges him – was a fascinating man who lived an amazing life. He is best known as being an infamous occultist and the scribe of The Book of the Law, which introduced Thelema to the world. Crowley was an influential member in several occult organizations, including the Golden Dawn, the A∴A∴, and Ordo Templi Orientis. He was a prolific writer and poet, a world traveler, mountaineer, chess master, artist, yogi, social provocateur, drug addict and sexual libertine.
