Cinnamon Toast&Rolls - Circle B Kitchen - Circle B Kitchen - StumbleUpon The USDA released its new food pyramid the other day (which is actually a plate now instead of a pyramid), and I am sorely disappointed to report that cinnamon rolls did not appear anywhere on that plate. I think by now most of us know what should be on our dinner plate in terms of healthy, well-rounded nutrient-laden meals, but it is my considered opinion that our breakfast plate should include cinnamon rolls now and then. And not just any cinnamon roll, mind you, but how ‘bout a homemade cinnamon roll hybrid that is a cross between a cinnamon roll and cinnamon toast, is super easy to make and gosh darn delicious. In honor of their ancestry, I call these little gems cinnamon toast rolls, and here’s all you need to make them… Yep. Trim the crusts off of the bread Roll the bread really flat Brush both sides of the bread with butter Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar Roll in any fashion you like (I’ve also folded them into little triangles) Cinnamon Toast Rolls Click here for a printable recipe

Chocolate Cheesecake Cake | RecipeGirl.com Chocolate Cheesecake Cake You know how some people really don’t get along well with their In-Laws? How visits with them are stressful and awkward and generally awful for many people? Yeah, not me. I got kinda lucky on that whole “in-law” thing. It happened to be my dear Father-in-Law’s birthday last weekend. If you followed my blog over the holidays, you may have seen me make that oh-so-yummy Red Velvet Cheesecake Cake. I always, always bake my cheesecakes in a “water bath.” That baked cheesecake is popped into the freezer and allowed to freeze up nice and firm. In case you’re wondering how I got my cake layers to bake up so even and flat… nope, I did not trim them. The frosting recipe I used is also from the Piece of Cake cookbook- Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting. It’s a pretty fudgy frosting, so I’d say it’s not great for trying to pipe decorations. And I shaved some chocolate on top. I guess I have to say it. So… I’m curious…do you get along with your in-laws?

Mini Peanut Butter and Nutella Cheesecakes | Just Everyday Me - StumbleUpon 28 Dec 2011 One of the perks of being a student (and right now as I’m in the middle of college applications and interviews there don’t seem to be many) is that you get a long Christmas break. This is what I’ve done since Christmas: Stayed in my PJs all day. I got new pajama pants for Christmas (a tradition in my family). Today I am hoping to finish up my second to last college application (maybe both of them! But that’s enough about boring college stuff! Red Velvet Crêpes | Duhlicious - StumbleUpon I rolled my eyes at the red velvet cake trend, but now I can’t get enough. I’ll make any excuse to have ‘cake’ for breakfast– here’s my take on a classic. Red Velvet Crepes (Makes about 24, 8″ crepes) Ingredients: – 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour - 1 teaspoon baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda - 1/4 teaspoon salt - 3 tablespoons sugar - 2 cups butter milk - 1 1/4 cup whole or lowfat milk - 1 large egg - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract - 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder, sifted - 1 tablespoon red food color gel - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted + 2 tablespoons cooking oil (for pan) *Update: Because the buttermilk lends to the acidity of this batter, do not substitute the baking soda for extra baking powder. If you add more baking powder, and omit the baking soda, you’ll end up with a heavy and dense crepe. Chocolate Ganache Topping- 75 gr bittersweet chocolate - 75 mL heavy cream - 1 tablespoon sugar Directions: For the Mascarpone Filling:1. For Chocolate Ganche Sauce1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.
