How To Create Digital Particle Waves in Adobe Illustrator The blend tool in Adobe Illustrator is often used to create abstract wave graphics, but I’ve been experimenting with some additional adjustments and discovered some handy tricks to create sci-fi inspired digital particle waves. This kind of imagery perfectly complements hi-tech interface designs with colourful data visualisation effects, or it could be used to create abstract art in its own right. We’ll create the initial effect in Adobe Illustrator, where I’ll show you a few options for randomising the result, then switch over to Adobe Photoshop for some extra colour enhancements to really boost the vibrancy. How To Create an Editable Retro Text Style in Illustrator Many of the text effect tutorials I produce for Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop tend to require the text to be permanently set, which means if the wording needs changing, the effect would have to be created all over again from scratch.

Playing with Displace Filter in Photoshop I have been playing a lot with the Displace filter in Photoshop and I still get impressed with how powerful it is. Even though I have written some tutorials using it, I decided to try to recreate a different effect that I saw in one of the images submitted for the Daily Inspiration. It was a brick wall deformed like it was made of cloth. So in this tutorial, or a quick-tips I will show you how to create a curtain made of bricks or how to deform a brick wall as it was a curtain. To do that we wil use a few stock photos, layer adjustments and the Displace filter in Photoshop CS5. Step 1 Open Photoshop and create a new document. Step 2 Let's import another image, now of a girl opening the curtains. Step 3 With the Lasso Tool (L) or the Pen Tool (P) select the empty white. Step 5 Now select the hands/arms of the girl and the curtains. Step 6 Move the brick wall layer so it will be in front of the girl layer. Step 7 Go to Layer>Layer Mask>Hide Selection. Step 8 Step 9 Step 10 Step 11 Step 12 Step 13

Photoshop Tutorial #2 - How I use Photoshop (Simple Guidelines) - DethHolly - Blog I like to lighten black, and take away a touch of cyan and yellow because it gives it a charcoal look. I darken the neutrals to better blend in with the lighter black, and +100 black the white. I like it dark. Another filter I use often is Gradient Map. My favorite one to use is the one I have high lighted. I have the settings on my layer toolbar like this. (Gradient Map is the best way to add a touch of green, red or blue to the whole image, while Selective Color only does it for a certain color. I changed the gradient map filter drop down to hard light instead of soft light and lowered the opacity to 55, then gave it a bright green map. I like the outcome except for one thing. Make a new layer (OVER the filters) on your layer toolbar. And click on your foreground color (or background) on your toolbar. Change the color to #990000(red) Then grab your brush tool (8 buttons down on your toolbar.) (Or press "B") (I set mine to 10pxls, but you can set it to whatever you are comfortable with.)
