DIY Hair Treatments Eggs, yogurt and honey are, at first glance, all components of a tasty breakfast—but they also happen to be hair treatment ingredients, and affordable, all-natural ones at that. And they're not the only ones. Did you know, for instance, that the oils in avocados more closely resemble our own skin's oils than any product in the beauty aisle does? Or that the mild acidity in lemon is an effective—and gentler—alternative to chemical-laden products? For All Hair Types "The [raw] egg is really the best of all worlds," says Janice Cox, author of Natural Beauty at Home. To Use: For normal hair, use the entire egg to condition hair; use egg whites only to treat oily hair; use egg yolks only to moisturize dry, brittle hair, Cox says. Photo by Shutterstock. For Dull Hair Styling products (as well as air pollution) can leave a film that both saps moisture and dulls shine—but dairy products like sour cream and plain yogurt can help reverse this damage. 9 Pretty Simple Pimple Home Remedies A few weeks ago when I was digging around for a post to “revive” from way in the depths of Crunchy Betty, my first thought was a very, very old post titled 27 Quick and Crunchy Home Remedies for Pimples. It’s a great post, full of fun little ideas for when you have a giant monster on your face and want to treat it quickly. I even used several of the ideas in the Simple Pimple Remedies section of Food on Your Face for Acne and Oily Skin. There’s just one problem with it. The picture I used to accompany that post is horrendous. So it was kind of like a creepy clown that’s been baked in the oven at 125 degrees for about 3 minutes. I will not post that picture here, because by gosh and all, I don’t want it haunting me for the rest of my blogforsaken life. So, when I realized I couldn’t “revive” that post as is, I thought, “I’ll take a few new pictures for it.” So here you go. Also, let it be known that these are not ranked by my personal favorites. Kinda magic. Ah. Tomatoes. Now, now.

The other night I was sitting with my family, most of whom are very successfully married. We were going in a circle giving our best marriage advice to my little sister on the eve of her wedding. But that’s not what blows. And so, when it was my turn, I just made a joke about divorce and how you should always remember why you loved your spouse when you first met her so that when times get tough, you can find someone new that is just like she was. There were a couple courtesy giggles, but overall my humor wasn’t welcome in such a beautifully building ring of profundity. They finished round one, and for some reason started into another round. It eventually came to me again, and what I said would have been such great advice if I were a tenth as good at saying things as I was at writing them. And so, that night, I sat down and wrote out my “advice list” for my little sister. I call it my “Ways I Blew My Marriage” list. BONUS! BONUS! BONUS! BONUS! BONUS! BONUS!

6 Ways To Deal With Your Spouse's Annoying Habits SPECIAL FROM Next Avenue By Teri Orbuch When couples spend more time together, little annoyances become magnified. These 6 tips can get you back on track. Amy came to see me as a relationship therapist last year. She and José, her husband of 40-plus years, were both 68 and still working full-time. Over the years, they had weathered more than their share of challenges and survived. “Even though we were stressed to the max at times, I really think the life-changing crises made our marriage stronger,” Amy told me. Naturally, I was waiting for the “but … ” And of course there was one. Amy told me she couldn’t stop herself from snapping at him. I asked her to tell me what he does that is so egregious. We discussed the importance of these habits relative to her deeper feelings about José. Amy was smart to come to me when she did. (MORE: Relationship Rescue: Getting Your Needs Met) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
