{ little toad } — Featured Invitation | WeddingLovely Blog Today’s featured invitation is by { little toad }, inspired by the Pixar movie “Up” (one of my favorites!) Such darling illustrations and a beautiful finished invitation set — I love that these are so silly yet loving, a really wonderful departure from the typical classic wedding invitation. Michelle, take it away: Well first off I love all things Disney & all things Pixar but when I saw the movie “UP” I felt a whole different level of respect for these animated films. In the first 15 minutes it managed to beautifully illustrate the full depth of a marriage, needless to say I was balling my eyes out (to the dismay of my boyfriend & my fellow movie goers.) In creating these my biggest challenge was making sure people would recognize parts of the movie in my illustrations but also making sure to make them my own interpretation & in my own artistic style. I always love invitations that tell a story and the more you look at them the more you discover in the illustrations.

Make flowers from crepe paper Ages ago I bought a package of crepe paper (like this—the folded sheets, not streamers). An impulse purchase simply because... it was orange? The other day I finally made some flowers with it while watching way too much HGTV. These will be nice gift toppers, or maybe I'll do more and make a wreath. Materials: Sheet of crepe paper Small piece of cardstock Scissors Glue (I used Aleene's Tacky Glue) Toothpick Cut 12 circles from a sheet of crepe paper, any size you like depending on how big you want the final flower to be. Orient each petal so the grain in the paper runs vertically. Cut out a small circle of cardstock (about the same size as the petals before you shaped them.) To make a center for the flower, cut a small strip of crepe paper and fold it in half.

Mason Jar Key Hook - StumbleUpon Hey guys! Hope you all had a great Wednesday I have a fun project to share today! I started with a 1×8 board from Lowe’s that I cut to about 2′ long. I used a different paint method on this board and I love how it turned out so I am going to share it with you in my next post. I also purchased 3 hooks and a pipe clamp from Lowe’s. My next step was attaching them to my board. Then it was time to attach the clamp. I used a 3/4″ wood screw to attach it to my board. Finally, I added to picture hangers to the back of it and hung it up. I love it. I’m thinking these would be super cute hand towel hooks for the bathroom. Thanks for stopping by! Um, can you believe that Christmas is in four days?! We told all the kids that we would be cutting back on spending until we knew if Wes would be getting a new job soon. On Friday my husband found a new job. Because we were cutting back on all spending, I didn't get to re-decorate the mantel, make new stockings, and update our Christmas tree like I planned. Wanna make some? Cut a circle out of paper. Now take your scissors and start cutting a spiral wavy line from the outside of the circle to the middle. Start rolling the paper around itself. Keep wrapping the paper around in a circle. When you get to the end, you will have a little round part. If you want to let it unravel a little, now is the time. It will look like this on the back. Isn't it lovely? I made up several of them and used them as gift wrap embellishments.

Zip-up Earbuds & LauPre - StumbleUpon I love to have my music with me everywhere I go, but I hate the tangled mess my wires become when I toss them in my bag or pocket. Last night I whipped up a fun and functional solution by adding a zipper to my earbuds. This project took me around an hour to do (perfect for catching up on some t.v. from hulu.com). The supplies are few; basic sewing supplies, a pair of headphones, and a nice long zipper. The first step is to pull the earbuds apart, to separate the wires all the way down to the plug. Next, take one side of your headphones and one side of the zipper tape and start stitching the wire into the tape. It’s as easy as that! Then unzip them to the length I want and put them on so much faster than having to untangle the mess!

Cherry Blossom Ball by Tomoko Fuse I have already made Cherry Blossom Ball twice, but somehow I found myself folding it again. And not just folding but even decorating it, which I have to say doesn’t happen too often. Turned out quite nice! This is a great model indeed and I’m always sorry to hear that many people have trouble assembling it. The secret to easy and flawless assembly is to unfold and open up pockets before trying to tuck flaps inside! Just open the pocket, put the flap in place and close the pocket. stencil with freezer paper (harry potter tee)... - StumbleUpon Yes, I am a nerd. I came up with a brilliant idea for a Harry Potter t-shirt and I couldn't resist. "Expecto Patronum!" However, you can make whatever kind of design you want with a freezer paper stencil. It doesn't have to be Harry Potter related. (Although it would be awesome if it was.) I learned about the joys of freezer paper back in my early college days. Basically, freezer paper is backed with a plastic coating that will stick to soft surfaces when ironed, but it peels off cleanly and easily. To make a sweet t-shirt you will need: paper & pencil a t-shirt an iron a piece of cardboard or poster board fabric paint & brush Start by drawing your design on some regular old paper. My design kept getting bigger, so I taped two sheets together. Next, place your design underneath a sheet of freezer paper and trace it neatly with a sharpie. The marker gives your lines greater width making it easier to cut them out and paint them in later. Important: Set these shapes aside.
