Brown Slippers « Crochet (Update: To see more of my patterns, please visit my ONLINE SHOP!) I’ve just finished making these slippers. Making crocheted slippers is my addiction. Huge addiction. DIY Roundup - Lace and Doilies Hi everyone! Today I'd like to share a round up of DIY projects that are all about lace and doilies. 1. DIY Lace Paper Enveloppe - Tutorial here Inspired by Yulia Brodskaya I can't get over how amazing these are. I wouldn't be surprised if Yulia invented quilling. She is a 28 year old artist from Moscow who creates beautiful designs from vertical pieces of thin paper and her website is full of inspiration in color, line, shadow and technique. You don't have to be a fellow quiller to wish you were like this great lady. Even though her pieces would be amazing if they were drawn, it was the fact that they are 3d that caught my attention.

purplecarrotkc.com: DIY Frame Key Holder Time for my first official DIY post ever. Let me start off by saying I do not consider myself to be a crafty person, though I aspire to be one, ha. I have a mom who can do about anything crafty there is to do. Growing up, she managed a fabrics and crafts store, taught craft classes, sewed tons of our outfits, fixes band suits in high school, took in and hemmed prom dresses, etc etc. If you don’t believe me, she has a quilting blog to prove it! That being said, I hope at least a little bit of that is in my blood, and that someday it will come forth. text art: I can't do this but I'm doing it anyway I saw this on pinterest the other day and immediately wanted to scrawl it across every wall in my apartment with black paint. In some ways, I felt like this statement had become my mantra. But the ironic thing is, I painted this over the weekend while I was feeling great about things and confident that this deployment was going to fly by. I was making plans to visit apartments in Ventura and starting to think about moving up there on my own this December. It was so easy to create this painting then.

Pop Top Lamp Shade Update: Lots of folks have been asking about the fancy rainbow-colored shade in the new photo. It was made using the same techniques described in this article. The tabs are not painted; they are all recycled from cans that have factory-anodized color pull tabs. A few of them I collected myself, but most of them I scored by watching eBay for awhile. Yes, you really can get anything from eBay. I made the first one of these back in 2009, and it was later included in Garth Johnson’s creative reuse book. Origami envelope in Crafts for home stationery and paper for birthdays, anniversaries or dinners Do you need to improvise an envelope paper because you have run out of them? The solution comes from the hand of The Yuppie Lifestyle, with a simple tutorial using a square of paper about 15 cm (5,9 inch.). DIY Sharpie Tie Die I love this Sharpie tie die DIY from The Art Girl Jackie blog! She did it with her adorable daughter and I think it’s a fun inspiration for this Spring and upcoming music festival season. Use this technique to spruce up your ratty t-shirts or maybe a pair of of cut off shorts. For another idea, check out how to spruce up your clothes with DIY leopard print here!

Frame your own artwork For a while now I have wanted to make an art piece of my own to place above our humble dining room table. The problem? I am no artist. That's right, sometimes crafty girls cannot paint or draw.. or it may just be me. Either way, I have created a fabulous piece of "art" using scrapbook paper, ribbon, fabric, cardstock, embellishments, and any other scraps you have laying around the house. Acrylic Paint and Letters This is a fact: there is something magical about craft stores. Like, fairy dust magical. I know this because the minute I step inside one, suddenly I believe I’m capable of completing all kinds of art projects I have no business touching, and suddenly I’m buying the necessary supplies to knit a designer dress (yes, out of yarn) or bake a cake shaped like a rocketship or something. It’s like I’m invincible, craft-wise. Welp, they got me again. I saw this art on Pinterest:

How to Make Paper Pencils (tutorial) I have always wanted to make my own pencils, but the thought of shaping two pieces of wood to allow a piece of lead to sit perfectly inside made me think it wasn’t worth the effort. For some reason I was looking at some pieces of lead I have (for a drafting pencil) and “pop” there it was.. a solution to my DIY longing. Here is a tutorial to make pencils that is so ridiculously easy I’ve made 10 pencils since the idea came to me yesterday! Enjoy.

Cool Pop-up Card I‘ve been scratching my head trying to come up with a card for my hubby {AKA the non-romantic type}. I finally decided to make this pixely popup heart card! They are really minimal (which I love) and take about 20 minutes to make (that includes the card, insert and envelope). You can even make some pixely confetti to put inside the card (if you are a big kid like me!). Full instructions and printable templates below! 25 (more) clever ideas to make life easier .
