This app is a wonderful learning tool for all kids at some point in their development. We found this app especially helpful with ESL students, of all ages. During play, the student is presented with an image and must drag a preposition to complete a sentence about the image. If the student chooses the wrong answer, the image and sentence change to show the student the proper use of the preposition they chose and how it changes the image. ” The choices are: in – on – under, and the picture shows the cereal in the bowl, when the child puts the word on in the blank the picture changes and shows the cereal on the bowl. 5 Fun Free iPad Math Game Apps These free apps offer fun ways for elementary/primary grade students to practice their math fundamentals. We checked out a bunch of free math games for the iPad that can help younger students reinforce their math basics, focusing only on those rated 4 stars or better. There are quite a few of these. As of this morning, there were 92 apps that come up by searching the App Store for “math games” that are free and have ratings of 4 or higher. My Math App Flashcards (link here): This is a great application, providing flash card style testing for multiplication, subtraction, multiplication, and division, with “Starter” and “Advanced” verisons for each function, making it useful across a wide range of grade levels. Math Puppy (link here): This app has 2 games and a calculator. Multiplying Acorns (link here): This is a cute, straightforward game in which you select two digits to multiply together, and then have to select the correct answer from several choices. Educreations: DIY Whiteboard Video Tutorials on the iPad The new app from Educreations is available in the Apple App Store today (iTunes link). The app is designed to make it easy to create, narrate, and record whiteboard video tutorials on the iPad and to share them with others. A Web version of the startup's whiteboard app has been available for some time now, but it's the native app for an iPad that makes this sort of tool make sense -- it's so much easier to write on a whiteboard with the finger than it is with a mouse, if nothing else. Educreations is hardly the only app like this available for the iPad (I covered the very similar app ShowMe over on MindShift this summer, for example). Educreations hosts the video creations themselves on educreations.com (helpful for schools that block YouTube), and teachers using the site can opt to share videos privately with a set group of students or share them publicly so anyone can see them.
